Jessica's Mac Book..

Hi guys,
Firstly hats off on the show.. great effort all round.. keep up the good work.
Just wondering, what sort of MacBook Pro does Jessica use on the show? Is it a 17" or a 15"? I can never tell with the camera angles! Is this the same machine that you guys edit the show on?

Jessica has a 17" MacBook, but I'm not sure it's been in the show. I have a 15" MacBook Pro that's been a prop in the show several times. It's the machine that's used to digitize tapes and rough edit the show. Our editor, uses a MacBook Pro of his own to edit the show. So...the answer is yes it's the machine we use to edit the show...sort of.

Ahh so you guys are certainly Mac Book afficianados.. good to see..
I automatically assumed that it was Jessica's Mac because it was sitting in front of her on the desk on a couple of episodes from Feb this year. How kind of you to let it be used as a prop! Is she too precious with her 17" to bring it in.. or maybe it's a little unwieldy :)
So that was yours too when she reviewed the Sling Box way back on the 14/2/07 episode?
So what sort of software apps you guys running to get the show up? FCP I imagine?

We use the 15" cause it doesn't take up as much space on the screen...that's all. I think she has the G4 version too.

We use FCP Studio for the show. Green screen stuff is sometimes done in After Effects. Generally it's FCP.

I have that reputation, but for notebooks I actually prefer smaller...it's easier to carry and I take my notebook everywhere. I only have this 15.4 inch MacBook Pro because of FCP. Personally, I'd prefer an 11 or 12 inch screen...probably Windows XP to be honest. Something with killer battery life. So far, Vista hasn't grown on me other than for Media Centers.

How about the Sony G11? It's Vista + Core Solo but not as crashingly slow as I'd feared. I regularly get 8+ hours out of it. And it weighs a really-on-the-scales ~1.1Kg's.
