I've decided that my non-DVI Samsung 914V is outdated and should belong on the parent's desk and is no longer worthy of my (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b238/sr111/IMG_0014.jpg) graphics adapter.

I have my eye on the Samsung 226BW (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001096)...is this a wise choice for a ~$300 purchase?

Also do you recommend I buy from circuit sewer (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Samsung-22-Widescreen-Monitor-226BW/sem/rpsm/oid/170984/catOid/-12965/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) or worst buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8260516&st=SAMSUNG+226BW&type=product&id=1170289357904) rather than newegg since I can readily take it back if I deem it un-worthy?

The Samsung 226BW for 298 is a pretty good deal, newegg always has good prices from what i have experienced, i don't know if you would get that same deal in store. The monitor itself is sleek made by a good company I say its a good choice. As far as whether to get it off newegg or in store, i'd say thats just personal preference. You could save 100 bucks if you went down 2 inches SAMSUNG 906BW (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001094)

I just purchased the 20-inch version ($198) of this monitor ViewSonic Optiquest Series Q22wb Black 22" (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116076) and couldn't be happier.

ViewSonic makes good monitors. So does Planar.

As for place of purchase, go online if the price is really good. But if prices are close on what you want go with the local store for easier returns if needed.
