Diamond Comics - the only provider of mainstream american comic books to UK retailers, have cancelled all orders for the Free Comic Book Day retailer pack to UK retailers without explaination. Retailer's additional orders for the FCBD comics will still go through, so the larger chains that ordered extra copies on top of their retailer pack should still receive their comics, but the smaller chains and single stores are pretty much shafted, especially when it comes to the smaller titles.

Diamond being the only supplier to the UK means that this single act has pretty much cancelled FCBD in the UK completely, to all but the large chains such as Forbidden Planet (who do not normally take part anyway - they normally sell the 'free' comics)

Hooray for Diamond!

That is terrible. See this is why someone needs to compete with Diamond so than can't pull shit like this and not say "too bad"

That's horrible. Way to **** things up again, Diamond.

But on a lighter and unrelated note...Chris...I absolutely LOVE you avatar. It's officially my all-time favorite avatar, ever. Whenever you're done with it, I'd love to be completely un-original and steal it. Lemme know.

"Bees?!"

"Oh, beads!"

Thanks! Feel free to steal it whenever you want, so long as it's for use elsewhere so as to avoid confusion.

Diamond doesn't have to be the only supplier if I'm correct. It's just that no one else wants in the market.

Not possitive on this. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

No, sadly, that's pretty much it. Plus there's other places you can go for TPB's and Graphic novels, which now make up a good percentage of comic book related sales, so that makes it easier for them to do what they do.

Yeah that's what I thought.
Everyone hates Diamond...

The problem is that Diamond has special priority with both DC and Marvel making it nearly impossible for a new distributor to compete.

The only way really to fix this problem is to make the companies themselves do their own distribution. But that could possibly make it worse.
