Wow I really loved this movie. I have to say. It was really good in my opinion. Granted it went back and forth from emotional to slapstick almost. But it was good none the less. It seemed like a departure from the others. There was so much that you did not know where it was going to go. whether it would turn emotional or be funny.
In the beginning your hoping for him to really get what he wants. But the whole town loving him is going to his head. He is losing sight of things once more. Its once again hard for him to do the right thing.
I think with everything going on in the movie it was hard to keep the serious moments serious and the funny ones funny. As they sort of blended together awkwardly at times.
There were a bit too many villains going on. I think Raimi should have made the goblin and peter solve there differences earlier in the film. That way we could leave him out till the end with a team up or something of the like. Raimi just did not know what he was doing with this film. He not only shafted Topher Grace. He shafted everyone else in the movie. There was to much going on. Peter and Mary Jane. Peter vs himself. Peter vs Venom Peter vs Eddie Peter v everyone in the damn universe. I can understand why Raimi did not either want Venom in the movie or wanted him for the simple reason of making parker struggle with his inner demons. Which in turn was what the whole movie was about. People struggling with there inner demons.
This would have been fine. But for as many amazing actors there were in this film they were not able to shine. But with so many actors it did live up to what I thought it was going to be. Which was simply a great film experience.
The hole movie I was waiting for Venom to make his appearance. He did. Then he waved goodbye. Because he somehow became evaporated by a grenade that the goblin has. But on the same turn earlier in the movie Franco is only scarred by that same type of grenade. What the hell I say. This was the only thing that I really hated in this film. Topher Grace pulled off one of the best versions of Venom I have ever seen. They could not have picked anyone better for this role. He showed off what he does best which is humor. I bet some of you really think he is either horrible or just bad or whatever. But I really thought he pulled his weight in each scene he was in. What few of them there were sadly.
I have to admit I love Venom with a passion.
Now there is a possibility I see for Topher to come back in the next movie. The explosion could have somehow fused them together. Causing them to start calling themselves "the other and I" and start using "we". Which would be cool. There are a few ways he can come back. Which I really hope he does.
They also must be setting up for I think its Blackcat to come in. I think thats her the blond chick. I'm not completely familiar with the comics. As I have only read like 1 maybe 2. But I did watch the TV series. Anyway. I think they might bring Her back for a bit of revenge for making her look like a fool and using her. Parker did a really asshole thing to her.
They can also now bring in Lizard. As he could have a reason to have regained his arm with experiments with the symbiote and lizards whatever happens there I think we will definitely see him in the next one. As it is high time he comes in. Not only do they bring in a great actor to play Connors. They keep building up to it. Showing him more and more. They have a great opportunity to bring him into the possible 4th movie.
Also If they bring in Carnage I will absolutely see this film 10 times in the theaters. As there is a bit of the symbiote left in captivity. Somehow it can be done.
The possibility of Kraven coming in is also there. As with Gracy being used rather harshly by Peter. JJ can finally find out who spiderman is. With the help of somehow brought back Venom. (I don't know but it should be done.) Kraven could be hunting Connors in the beginning. Connor's finds a way to regain his arm with the experiments off the symbiote and lizards. Not only would the regeneration thing help to bring back Venom. It gives you Lizard. And a way to bring in Kraven. Granted I think Kraven is a ***** cause he kills himself after capturing spidey. I think thats what went on. But you can see how this story line comes back from the previous and ties in a lot of stuff. Which is what three tried to do.
Anyway what I meant by Venom should have banged Mary Jane. Is Raimi should have went the direction of Snuff film for the ending. The ending shafted Venom. A big character. An amazing character. With an amazing actor.
As I started to think that Toby and Franco were going to sit on scaffolding ****ing each other in the ass as a sandstorm raged around them. The chaffing from the sand would have made me happy since the ending was horrible. Then Venom should have went up to the cab and just went all out on Mary Jane. Then he could have just dropped her off the roof as it would just suffice for a death for Mary Jane.
Who ends a movie like this. ALL of the villains are done for in one way or another. All of them. What were they thinking. I know everyone must think I have a hard on for Venom well I do. But **** how do you drop everyone. Thomas Hayden Church just rocked the shit in this movie. He was a great villain. He was in turmoil and all that crap. Then to have Goblin come back after he should be dead with that damn grenade. Then to have him finally killed by Venom. Which rocked by the way. That was a great moment. Killed like his father almost. Poetic in a way.
Many of you are so stuck on the Emo hairstyle which is so stupid. I think what Raimi was going for was Peter. "Letting his hair down." He woke up and said I feel different today. So he did not do his normal quire boy hair style. He did the I only go to church on occasion hairstyle. It was a change a clear change that he wanted to portray. It was not emo it was different. Letting your hair down does not make you emo. Granted there was alot of crying in the movie. I did not see Parker break down and cry in a corner when his girlfriend left him. No he went out and hooked up with someone else. Not an emo thing to do.
Anyway loved the movie go see it! It really is worth seeing.
