I just gots a ps3.

Today was my brothers birthday and he bought a ps3, and I was gravely disappointed. I tried to point out to him that it sucked and it was a failed console.
But I was wrong..

despite all the ps3 thrasing I have done, it's actually quite a good system. So far we only have two games virtual fighter and resistance but they are really good games. They looking amazing, atleast after we got the hdmi cable, and they play really well (I forgot how much I missed the ps remote). The menu system kicks ass, the online is free and it's silent, for the most part..

I really don't get why there is so much ps3 hating after playing it for a few hours this afternoon, and yes I have played both the 360 and the wii extensively, and I think my experience thus far has been much more pleasant with the ps3. Maybe it's just because I personally didn't have to pay the 600+, though.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Sure it can play back Blu-Ray discs AND is a console, but I think people would rather have the choice of purchasing a Blu-Ray version of the console or a cheaper DVD version.

It's probably because of the fact that you didn't pay $600 why you like it so much. But you have to really think of putting down 600 bucks for this thing and ask yourself, "Is it really worth it?"

I haven't regretted my purchase at all (though mine was the now-extinct $500 version rather than $600). Watching three hours of Planet Earth on Blu-Ray tonight blew my socks out my ass.

If MGS4 or Final fantasy 13 are PS3 only releases I am going to have to buy a ps3, otherwise i wont, even though, since I was a little boy, I have been a die hard sony fan.

For now my Wii & 360 will suffice.

I want a Ps3, but not right now. There is not enough on the system to stand out over the 360 right now to justify the price. However I bet within the next year I will want to get one.

The PS3 bashing was purely because Sony dropped the ball a number of times prior to it's release. It's a great piece of kit, value for money too based on what you actually get, but it's going to take sometime for sales to ramp up with the current software catalog.

I'd love to own one, but you'll never see me paying £425 for a games console, especially as I couldn't give a rats ass about HD movies.

I had all three last gen and I will get all three this gen.

Whats good about this gen is they are pretty different. If you get a console and all you do is play online get the 360. Play once a week, and at get togethors probably go with the Wii.

Sure, a PS3 is the cheapest way to get a blu-ray player, but come on, after wal-mart chose HD DVD, Blu-Ray is just countin' it's days folks. If was fun for a whlie and we had a good time with this whole VCR vs. Beta style battle, but with Walmart and Porn the HD DVD is a juggernaut that cannot be stopped.

It's not finding a PS3 thats the problem for Jeff, its deciding whether it is worth $600 to spend on a console. I think Jeff said he was looking for a reason to buy one besides that one game that you can buy on the PS3...

Says who? There was a news report that one of the FF XIII spinoffs might come to the 360, but zilch about FF XIII itself. Not saying it won't--though, personally, I think MGS is a more likely candidate for 360.

Dude, **** you. MGS 2 and 3 kicked ass. Especially 3's online mode in subsistence. Most fun and under-rated online play that I have ever experienced...hell I think I'll go get online right now.
