The shipping list is out (http://www.ifanboy.com/shipping.html). Which title are you most looking forward to?

For me, it's a toss-up between Countdown #51 and New Avengers #30.

I agree with you Steve.

The only other one I would add is the Criminal TPB since I haven't read any of the arc yet.

Yep--Countdown and New Avengers are my two top spots as well.

Hm. Either Criminal TB (haven’t read it) or New Avengers (Ronin revealed). Or…maybe even Thunderbolts??? Wait. Maybe Countdown (#51? Did I miss an issue?)

iSteve

Is this the New Avenger's issue where Ronin is revealed? If so, I really can't wait until tomorrow.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure that tomorrow we find out that Danny Bonaduce is Ronin.

Also this is where they introduce the new Marvel inter-changable hero concept like DC. Danny Bonaduce is the new Brother Voodoo as well.

It's a la Hank Pym.

Not a huge week for me. To step away from the superhero fanfare for a moment (ie - assure my comment gets glazed over by practically everyone) Secret #4 is out. Very cinematic; I've enjoyed it so far.

There's a few books I'll be happy to get in my grubby little paws, but not really anything I'm just crazy with anticipation over.

I was actually going a bit darker but on a lighter note I'll finally answer the question. I'm most anticipating NA and DMZ

i'm still chomping at the bit waiting for the next trade to come out. I'm a little worried about what i'm going to do after Y volume 9 comes out. I've read the whole series in like a month and a half and will not know what to do while I wait for volume 10.

I'll have to start reading more ex machina while I wait and maybe start reading another series of trades.

humphrey-lee
05-08-2007, 06:23 PM
Looking at the list, there's some okay books, but DMZ and Y: TLM are really the only ones worth going to the shop for. And that's fine, not everything can be an "instant classic" but it seems weird after getting 18 books last week, that's all.

Nova #2 by far. Who will win Nova or Ironman...I vote Nova.

Pun intended.

wow, 14 and trades. Seems like your going to be spending some money tomorrow. For me it's going to be a small week. A few monthlies and one trade. I have a feeling though that when I walk into the shop i'm going to spend more money than I originally thought I would. Always happens.

Countdown #51, no doubt about it. Something about those ads for it just struck me the right way, and after finishing up 52 and having it be in my opinion a consistently good title each week for a year, I now know DC has the ability to do a weekly book and still have it be a quality title.

Plus...Paul Dini being involved is always a good thing.

Of my 5 books I am most looking forward to The Chronicles of Wormwood. I wish it was an ongoing and not a mini, but I guess you can only do so many buddy stories of Jesus and the Anti-christ.

Wow on the contrary to my post I was the catalyst to a 3 page digression. Amazing!

What's that book?

All (amazingly hilarious, I assure you) jokes aside The Secret is a horror mini-series from Dark Horse. It's about these kids making prank calls at a party, telling the random people who pick up that they know their secret. Well they stumble upon someone who actually does have a secret... and he doesn't exactly let it slide. It might sound cheesy but I loooove horror, and it's well written if that's your bag. And the painting by Jason Alexander is just beautiful.

It's a mostly DC fanfare for me, but that's how it's been since Cap died. Green Arrow, Outsiders(cause of Checkmate), Countdown, and then the lone Marvel book I'm getting today, New Avengers(waiting for Immortal Iron Fist Hardcover) and maybe New X-men(which I couldn't have understood less last month).

Checked out Countdown 51 at lunch today--won't spoil or review in any way except to say I'm neutral on it at the moment. However, I feel like these weekly stories are bit a slow burn, so that neutrality is to be expected. Some interesting imagery in this one tho.

DiDio's DC nation kills me for some reason--the stuff he writes always reminds me of a friend's parents who always felt they had to be their kid's best friend and be into whatever the 'kids these days' are into. Not nearly as cool as he wishes he were, but somehow entertaining.

alexg

alexg
05-09-2007, 05:15 PM
Yeah, I can't tell why I didn't read 52 when it came out. I tried a few issues around the mid 20s or so and was totally lost, that kind of turned me off and never went back. The art was pretty blah too. It's hard for me to like a book with bad art. However in the end, I wish I had stuck with it.

I'm glad you're enjoying all the DC stuff you've been reading as of late, Freddie. So what all have you read? I know Kingdome Come, Infinite Crisis, Superman - IC....maybe Identity Crisis....? You liking most of it?

All right, I have to call MASSIVE BS on Marvel editorial for Black Panther 27. The events of BP 27 take place AFTER the events of FF 546 which isn't out yet! Remember all that discussion and questioning about where Black Panther went and if he ran away or not? Well fugg all that because it's answered neatly on the FIRST PAGE of BP 27. I don't understand this, it's a Black Panther/FF crossover, so just call it that and connect the story across the books.

I have NO reason to buy FF 546 now to see the conclusion of the Silver Surfer story.
