I know they mentioned it on one of the shows I'm not sure which one but what is a good one. I Trillian right now for Aim,Yahoo and MSN but I'm starting to have some problems with it.

For instance whenever certain people im me it'll have the text of what they sent and after that it puts      after every single im they send me also sometimes for certain people whenever I send an im to someone it tells me [System Message] User is not available and its becoming very annoying .

Is there anyway to fix this or can anyone atleast tell me why its doing that. If not what are some other good IM Clients around.

Well for the   thing, you might want to turn formatting off for incoming messages, it might be an issue with people using crazy formatting stuff to look 'cool'. Been a while since I used trillian but I think it has that option.

I use the IM client formerly known as Gaim - Now known as Pidgin ( http://pidgin.im/ ). I find it to be a great IM client. You can't skin it (In the sense you can skin Trillian and have it appear different from your other windows) but aside from that and maybe one or two other minor things it is equal to or superior to Trillian, in my opinion.

I use Trillian and have for about six years without problem. What's it doing that's causing issues?

It does that on my work computer. Don't know why. But not at home. I still use Windows Live for my MSN ID I use for my boyfriend, and him alone, so I can shut down Trillian and still be reachable by him.

CenterICQ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centericq) ftw!! It is not the prettiest, but it is pretty versatile when all you have is a terminal console.

IRSSI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irssi) + BitlBee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitlBee) > CenterICQ

Although the noises CenterICQ made when you got a message were so amusing ;-;

Checking out the Trillian here. Pidgin is giving trouble here man, but Trillian has the ability for notes which is great, I add people and forget how I know them on MSN, AIM or Gtalk. I want to like Pidgin but it's problematic, I don't see how to log into something individually like you can with trillian. Trillian FTW here.

I'm bouncing between Adium (http://adiumx.com/) and iChat (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/ichat/). I really like Adium being open source and being able to make it look better than a brushed metal window like iChat's. But I don't like that file transfers crash Adium, and no support for video chat (nor will there be in the near future).

I use Trillian in Windows XP and Vista, AdiumX in Windows and Pidgin in Linux.

When Astra comes it'll be for Windows and Mac.

Go to Account -> Add/Edit (or hit Control-A). You'll get a list of accounts to turn on/turn off, and the ability to add/delete accounts. Quite easy!
