Anyone been keeping up with the latest incarnation of the GI Joe comics? I rather enjoy them, mostly I think it is because I collected the original series when I was in middle school. The new one is pretty good.....

thoughts?

I'm not a fan actually. I thougth the artwork was pretty bad.

But you know what? This is what The Drome is all about. And now we're agreeing to disagree. What do you like about them?

I have no idea why I like them now that you mention it.....the artwork did kind of die off toward the end of the last series. But with the latest revamping, GI JOE Amerioca's Elite, the artwork has gotten better. Of course I am a poor judge of artwork since I read a limited number of titles.

I like the stories, there is something comforting about a familar story line with familar characters. I am 32 after all, when they brought it back a few years back, I hadn't bought a comic since I was in middle school. GI Joe got me back into reading them. Comics that is.

I usually get the TPBs since my time is limited and the nearest comic store is 15 miles away.

thoughts?I want to like em. Whenever something from my childhood is dredged up, repackaged and offered to me again, I want to like it. However, rarely does it recapture the magic it had back then. I think the latest one falls into that category for me.

I'm gay and I never liked GI Joe. What's the appeal?

Oh yeah, and the sailor guy with the parrot. Wasn't he recruited from the Village People.
