...and all I can say is wow. I netflix'd it for some random reason, I think it was actually because Dan was talking about it on some geekdrome eppisode a while ago. Anyway I just wanted to see what you guys thought since it completely blew me away.

What I really loved besides the cinematography was the way it had multiple stories but they were totally believable. It wasn't like one of those movies with tons of intricately intertwining stories that seem to rely solely on coincidence, City of God is just a bunch of great stories that take place in the same area, told by the same person.

Awesome film and did you know there's a series?
City Of Men (http://www.playusa.com/DVD/Region_1/CART/2-/1134834/-/Product.html?searchstring=City+of+Men&cur=516)
I own it, but haven't watched it yet, so can't comment on it's quality.

Is that the series about the south american kids in the slum? I've seen a few episodes of it. It's pretty good. Of course, it has nothing on the Sopranos or the Shield, but it does have its own charm.

That's seriously one of my favorite movies. I'm glad someone brought it up. I've loaned out my copy of the dvd to anyone willing to watch a foreign movie and everyone's loved it. I can't recommend it enough.
