I couldn't agree more with your review of, 28 Weeks later. I walked in with very low expectations - but left very happy.
And yes - one of the best opening scenes for a horror film.
It's been quite some time since I've been so stressed out during an entire film.

I was disappointed with the idea of a fourth Terminator movie, especially since it's rumored that Arnold will only make a brief cameo, but if they're focusing on the war and it's all T-800's, then it should be awesome because they're scary as ****.
Also, the original Tecmo Bowl still rules. The only problem I had with the game is when your friends would peek at your controller when you're picking your play which always results in a blitz. Wizards and Warriors is great too -- it's actually pretty easy. The final boss is difficult since it's this little dude who keeps growing and growing the more you kill it, but other than that it's one of my top 10 favorite NES games.
Oh, and the first Ninja Gaiden for the NES is awesome. I remember it was the first game that I played where you could jump off the walls. It was nuts.

Jeff, just an FYI, the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime DVD Edition currently at Toys R Us is NOT the figure you want. This is a re-release of the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime figure released a couple of years ago. The difference....this one has a horrible paint job (the figure is orange instead of red), and it comes with a really crappy base with a voice chip with some guy not named Peter Cullen providing the voice.

Great ep guys.
And happy b- day Dan, very nice haul! Just in time for the Halo 3 beta ;)
Also, very good point about movie franchises changing creators. If Fantastic Four 2 ends up sucking it doesn't mean I don't want to see someone else take a another stab at putting the Silver Surfer on the big screen. Franchises can be redeemed- Batman Begins and Casino Royale are proof positive.

Happy birthday, I am a huge fan of the show. Just wanted to post here to tell you that first person brawler you talked about? It was most likely "Breakdown" Possibly one of the most underrated games for the x-box period. A great title. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Kickass birthday swag!! I wish ppl got me that much rad stuff for my birthday lol. Thumbs up esp for the 360, now you can enjoy the M$ submission! :P lol, and those magnets are wicked cool too!
Also, I so have to go see 28 Weeks Later now, I loved the first one....maybe time to swing a movie team together to go see it lol
Finally, this show never ceases to amaze me on how awesome your choice of movies is! First the reference of Moonchild for Neverending story, then the return to Neverending story (my favourite childhood movie...first DVD I ever bought) now aaaand reference to Flight of the Navigator--another movie I thought nobody knew that I loved as a child....thumbs way the hell up! lol

Happy Birthday Dan, so how old are you?
It's my 30th in two days and I should *fingers crossed* also be getting a Black DS. I'd be getting a 360 too if I had any spare time to play it! Hopefully gonna go and see 28 Weeks Later asap. Knowing that all three of you liked it has eased my concerns somewhat.
Alex mentioned The Watchmen in this episode but it was never discussed later? Was there a planned comic section that didn't make the cut?

Great episode as usual.....but Jeff.....come on buddy.....GUITAR HERO III?!?!?!! You are so freakin' lucky, my friend. I know you can't talk about it, but wow, I nearly fell outta my seat (and I wasn't even in one) when you said that. That is awesome.
On the subject of 28 weeks later, I was thinking it would suck hardcore, and my friend tried to drag me to it, but we found out that its not even showing in our town! I was happy at the time, but now I'm kinda bummed.
Well, Happy birthday Danny boy, have lots of fun with all that cool stuff (and that action figure) ....and I will see you all later, because I have class.

Great review of 28 Weeks Later. I'm almost embarrased by how much I loved this movie. Glad to see I'm not alone. Disappointed to hear that Jeff hasn't read The Walking Dead. It's outstanding.
About Tecmo Bowl: as far as I know EA still has exclusive rights to the NFL teams and players. That's why the ESPN NFL series was discontinued.

I've been playing Kirby's Canvas Curse on my DS for a couple of months now and I freaking love it!!
Also, I was happy to see that I'm not the only Intacto fan out there. Great film - and yes the running through the forest part is insane, as is the time they run across a busy freeway blindfolded. Yeesh.

Great episode. The outtake was hilarious. Oh, and happy bday Dan. I'm really wanting to go see 28 Weeks Later now. i just got home from 28 weeks later and i cant say i loved it as much as you guys did but i still liked it. a little too much reliance on coincidence and a suspension of disbelief on the part of the viewer but overall entertaining. but sadly in the end it left me feeling sort of hollow inside. not at all how i like my rage infected/zombie movies to leave me.
One of the most hilarious episodes BY FAR.
the intro, outtakes( oohhh...), mention of mr men books, and mention of GH3, dans b-day, etc.. great!
And Dan, what the hell was that round glittery looking thing you got from your mom(it was before or after the micro nes controller)
WTF was that!?!? me and my freinds were like.. "uhh.."
dannyt

Thank you all very much for the b-day wishes. It means a lot.
The "round glittery thing" was a giant fortune cookie from my sister.
and the "micro nes" controller was actually a magnet with "TRS" inscribed in it along with a character from Bubble Bobble-- my girlfriend made them for she. She's rad.

Ahhh Bubble Bobble, those were the days! Rainbow Islands was nowhere near as good, but then how could it be? It didn't have any dragons in it!
2P BB was great, trying to steal all the letters so your mate couldn't spell out the words.

I stopped at EB Games last night after watching most of this episode. As the kiddo was checking out a Sonic game for the DS, I asked about Kirbys Canvas Curse. The guys laughed at me and told me it was hard to find. Guess what? They found it right in their own store. It's only been one evening, but we're having fun with this one. Thanks for the recommendation!! :)

The guys so totally sold me on Puzzle Quest, I bought a copy for the DS before I even owned the console (hopefully I'll have one tomorrow). As for Kirby, did you know it's called Kirby Power Paintbrush in the UK? I'll never understand the reasoning behind some decisions. Suffice to say that it, and Elite Beat Agents have both been added to my must buy list.

Elite Beat is sooo much fun. I finally got to Hard Rockin and it's nice to hear girls voices instead of the guys. I recently got Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, and I'm having just as much fun with it! The songs are really growing on me. :)

I Heart Robert Kirkman! Guys, check out the current episode of ifanboy to see a whole episode about him. They interview him, and I didn't expect him to look like that. For some reason, I always pictured him looking like a character from invincible.....so it was strange to see him as a real living breathing human being :-)

I couldn't agree less with the review of 28 weeks later. I went in neutral. I wasn't expecting something as good as 28 days later. But what I got was a movie that has so many holes in how thins build up. I agree the first scene was awesome. The entire filmograpgy and soundtrack were awesome. *spoiler alert* but when they find a woman outside containment, they take her in a holding cell, draw blood, and test it in a different room. while they are in a different room NO ONE is with this WOMAN!?!?!? No one, they don't have a single guard? Then the virus gets out and step one of code red is turn off the lights!!?!?! Then step 2 of code red is put the civilians in a nonsecure room where they are guaranteed to be attacked!?!!? Then after like 45 minutes they decide to destroy the city? The zombie's would have died out pretty quickly with so few people in the country. Then, setting up the movie for a sequal, c'mon. And it happening twice. How could the kid be allowed to pass it on, his sister knows he has it and would try her damndest to get him to a hospital.
I left thinking the filmography was excellent. except for the blair witch project camera shaking, the filming was cool and the music and sound were so amazing. But overall the story just had too many holes. Too many things that just can't happen.

Has anyone pointed out for Jeff that Gandalf's horse is names "Shadowfax."
In any case, I'm glad Jeff brought up the horse in the novel and not the movie.
In the movie, Shadowfax is described as "The prince of horses." However, in the novel shodowfax is merely the finest horse in Middle earth and is a real character of his own. Indeed, several of the mounts like Bill the Pony and Fatty Lumpkin are actually small character roles in the the novel.
As cool as anyone things the movie is, the novels are that much deeper.
Gandalf the White and Shadowfax were the antithesis of the Which King and his Black mount.
In any case, my choice of animal is Gwaihir the wind lord.
With the "Buckbeak" reference, I was surprised there were no calls for Fawkes the Phoenix or Hedgewig.

enjoyed the episode. For anyone wondering what the music was, it sounded to me like Explosions in the Sky or possibly Mogwai, both incredible guitar driven post-rock bands. I'm guessing if it's Explosions, it's probably from their latest release, "All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone." I haven't listened to either enough to exactly pinpoint the track, but its definitely something along those lines.
check out more samples here:
http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=30716
The whole post-rock genre is pretty incredible, even if it's getting a little tired at this point. Godspeed You! Black Emperor are the seminal, classic band of the genre. Silver Mount Zion, Mogwai, Do Make Say Think, Red Sparrowes, and Grails are all other EXCELLENT examples of the genre. Check out more samples here:
Godspeed: http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=1637

Grails: http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=31887

Mogwai: http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=20858

I found the music to be almost the best part of the opening scene, and thought others might have felt the same way. Hope this leads some people to some new, great music.
