And another one bites the dust (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117964967.html?categoryid=14&cs=1) :(

Pity - I really liked the story and where it was heading ... I guess reality and shows where you need to follow a storyline just don't work any more. Are we seeing a return to the 70's/80's standalone storylines? Bionic Woman is being remade ... what next Knight Rider (could actually be very cool as an updated series) and Love Boat??

The 2 towns going to war with each other was a great storyline. They did mess it up though at the end having the military get involved.

This is terrible news. I've got pretty much most of the series downloaded, but still have about 8 episodes to catch up on. Don't know whether I'll bother now. Same thing happened to another fave show of mine, Invasion. I wish they'd give these shows at least two seasons.

Hearing this really bummed me out. I had some trouble getting into this show the first few episodes, but I stuck with it and have really enjoyed the last 3 - 4 of the season. Sucks that it was cancelled. Maybe they could do a movie to wrap it up.

I loved this show from beginning to end (though not crazy about the millitary getting directly involved in the end) and it crushed me that is was cancelled. I completely agree that shows with storylines you need to follow are on their way out.

Well I'm a few episodes behind, but I have to ask. Did we at least get some answers to the whole "Who the heck is Hawkins" issue? Is he a terrorist or not?

Mother****ers!! I really liked this show.

Are they seriously ending it just like that - I mean that was a pretty serious cliff hanger at the end there...

Only watched the first 4 (or so) episodes and never really got into it. Didn't care for the characters much.

So it being canceled does not bother me in the least. Although I can understand all of you being upset. This is how I felt when they canceled, Blade: The Series.

No really; I liked that show.

SPOILER ALERT ... SPOILER ALERT ... SPOILER ALERT ... SPOILER ALERT ... SPOILER ALERT ... SPOILER ALERT ...

He was NOT FBI ... but if he was to be believed (and he WAS believable), he was actually CIA, used to infiltrate the terrorist network to try and stop whatever they had planned. It didn't work - they upped the schedule and everything went kaboom ... everything except the dirty bomb that Hawkins was supposed to detonate, and not has buried in in garden shed. We know this because JAck figured he wasn't FBI, wanted facts, and got the story.

I guess it was only half the story ... and we will never hear the rest thanks to the ****ers with ADD at CBS that can't follow a story line more complex than Sesame Street.

The reason given by CBS that Jericho wouldnt make into next season was as follows: The veiwership during its winter hiatus became dismil and thus we knew the series would not last another season.

Now since it will never been seen again, which i think is horrible, that show was storytelling on television at its finest. Screw Lost, Screw 24, screw everyone else; Jericho was the number 1 show to watch if you wanted plot, depth, and everything else that made a show great. However in all honesty there was only another, maybe 2, good seasons left before the series would have faltered and fallen flat on its face in writing and orginality.

Hopefully whoever the writers were will release the final moments of the New Bourne and Jericho war, the intervention of the "new federal government" and what this all means for Hawkins and his family in novelizations of what should have been the series second season.

CBS May Wrap Up Jericho

CBS, which canceled the post-apocalyptic series Jericho last week, posted a statement in response to fan outcry that the show ended on a cliffhanger and promised it would wrap the show up in some fashion.

In a statement on the official show bulletin board, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler told fans: "We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series, and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story."

In the season-one finale of Jericho, the denizens of Jericho, Kansas, were preparing to go to war with a neighboring town. The episode ended with the sound of gunfire over a black screen. After the episode aired, CBS announced that the show would not be returning for a second season in the fall, leading fans to send a raft of e-mails to the network. (SyFyPortal reported on some of the fan reaction.)

"We have read your e-mails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment," Tassler wrote. "Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the network, the production company and the incredibly talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show—both on-air and online. It is a show we loved, too. Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion."

So Jericho has been saved for at least another 7 episodes and three of the actors decided to thank the fans personally...

The Pilot wasn't the best. But episodes 12-22 were perhaps the best thing I have seen on television in years. I'm a die hard fan of the show (perhaps one of the biggest fans out there) and I admit I wasn't a huge fan of the first half of the season. However, after the 3 month hiatus (which killed the show, and killed it even more because Jericho came back up against American Idol) the show really picked up and became one of the most intriguing dramas currently on TV.

CBS are rerunning Jericho starting from July 6, 9/8c only on CBS. Since there is not enough time to rerun the entire season, this is what CBS are doing -- the first week they will play the pilot, next week they are going to skip the first half of the season and sum it up in a recap episode (like what LOST do) and then continue on with the second stellar half of the season.

DO NOT MISS IT! See what the fuss was all about and watch Jericho!

Cool. Thanks, Wes.

John and I watched the show and while it wasn't perfect, we agreed it was a step in the right direction for storytelling in a TV show. It had a lot of weak points but by the "end" I realized I really enjoyed it and wanted to see where it was going.

Am I right in thinking that whether you watch this or not, you don't count towards ratings unless you're a neilsen family?

Not sure how that works. But Jericho's on "them most watched network" and with the lack of shows thanks to the strike I'm hoping it gets a lot of viewers.

Jericho is back ... and it is as good as any show on TV at the moment. Hope the seven episode arc is well received and gets picked up for another series.

I've started watching the first season to see what all the fuss is about and it's a pretty damn good show. The cast is great and the plot progresses nicely. My only quibble is it's annoying tendency to blast songs toward the end of most of episodes. Peanuts well used.

CBS has nuked "Jericho."

Producers were told Thursday the show is ending its run on the broadcast network, sources said.

CBS will air the season finale next week with a resolution that helps give closure to fans.

After the first season concluded with an abrupt cut to black, fans famously inundated CBS with tens of thousands of pounds of peanuts to urge the network to continue the show.

For the seven-episode second season, producers shot two endings -- one that leaves viewers in suspense for a third round, another that is more conclusive.

The ending chosen by CBS will wrap up the final season's storyline, where the nuclear war survivors of a Kansas town struggled under a violent occupation by a government contractor.

"The March 25th episode of Jericho will be the series finale," CBS said in a statement. "Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high quality second season. We have no regrets bringing the show back for a second try. We listened to our viewers, gave the series an opportunity to grow, and the producers put a great story on the screen. We're proud of everyone's efforts."

Tuesday's finale doesn't entirely slam the door on the series, but is notably different from the cliffhanger version, sources said. The ending also doesn't entirely preclude the possibility of "Jericho" finding a second life on cable. The high cost of the production, however, will likely prevent a continuation of the show.

Despite the erosion of broadcast ratings in recent years, the massive protest that saved "Jericho" last year has been called the largest fan effort ever to try and halt a network cancellation of a series.

The outcry put CBS in a tough position, whether to renew a show that has below-the-line ratings, yet unprecedented fan support. "Jericho" also performed well online on CBS.com and in iTunes downloads.

Unfortunately for the network and fans, the second season's Nielsen ratings were even lower than the first. The most recent episodes have averaged about a 1.9 rating among adults 18 to 49 in the show's Tuesdays at 10 p.m. time period. The network's decision to cancel the show still might not have been easy, but it was easier to see coming.

"'Jericho' is unique because the fans saved it -- watching it on the Internet and streaming and iTunes downloads, all those things that are not being counted," said executive producer Carol Barbee in a recent interview. "That's what 'Jericho' will be known for."

Kinda sorta got closure ... but left wide open for picking up by another network, not as Jericho, but as a fairly obvious spinoff.

Why not as Jericho?
I thought theyd been touting it out for a few weeks now.

Doesnt help that they put it against American Idol either

I wouldn't say I loved this show, but it's totally better then a reality show that will probably replace it.

I feel maybe they thought that after the 'nuts' and petitions that they'd be blown away for season 2. I think they should have went full force into revealing that there was an evil government taking over. Jericho vs. the US. If there was a bit more action I think it could have been more impact full, I skipped like 2 or 3 episodes in the middle because they were just lack luster. nothing really happened.

It seemed like they came back & slowed down & didn't push for a huge story which it could have been

Going through the first season right now.

Im not really feeling it. I like the shows premise, i like the actors, but i dont like the acting i think. The stories are so predictable i feel like im watching each episode and when each scene opens i watch and am involved then i suddenly am jerked out cause i can see where its going. So i end up fast forwarding a lot.

Im only on episode 4, but so far its not got me locked in. Its good, but just not great so far. Maybe im spoiled ad jaded from shows like LOST. But then again im into trueblood and a sons of anarchy and a lot of other new shows. im still even into heroes.

Oh well, we shall see.
