Um, Bittorrent, thank you very much. Also, people use LimeWire now anyway, right?

I have been using limewire but its been really bad lately and getting on my nerves. Really hard to find songs and there is soooooo much crap on there now.

Thats kind of what happens :(

A network gets large enough, and ad "companies" find a way to exploit it. I too have been using limewire, and its seeming pretty weak. I only bother with bit torrent for large files and video.

the only "traditional" p2p app I find to still be worth using is soulseek (or Nicotine++ on Linux). It isn't generally as fast as other ones like limewire but it will more often than not have any artist you are looking for no matter how obscure.

I don't get Soulseek, someone, explain it to me, please :D

Does anyone still do direct P2P?

I downloaded a 60 minutes of broadcast quality video last night in about 7 minutes using Azureus.

You mean, you have the ability to, not that you would. Or, you did, but it was public domain stuff?

p2p networks quickly become bloated vile places, scary to even open the program for fear of PC AIDS.

Of course it was public domain. It was a "podcast."

I find P2P networks are good for downloading individual songs which is what I am interested in doing. I buy all my music on iTunes but if I can't find it on iTunes (or run out of credit on my iTunes cards) I just pirate it.

Given my experience, Bit-Torrent is great for anything other then music. Otherwise, I am able to download a song in limewire at a minute max.

My standard response to these threads.

Torrents>P2P

But P2P for music.
