I have yet to hear anything on how this will affect immigrants already here legally. There are a limited number of green cards given each year, and it's by a lottery of sorts. This year, Nick wasn't one of those chosen, which came as a blow to a lot of us at this company. I guess I have a problem with giving the same priority to those not following the law as to those who do. I'm not against immigrants who want to come here and work to support themselves, but I do believe that those who follow the legal channels should be given priority.

Input?

to answer your question everyone has to go to the end of the list so it is going to be 13 years before anyone here illegally now gets a chance at a green card. then people will have to wait longer cause it will be awarded base off of a merit system.

i really like this. in fact this is the one place that my the president agree upon

My office mate is a naturalized US citizen. He got married to a women from the same country who overstayed her student visa. She got pregnant. In order for her to get health benefits she has to be legal and you can't apply for a new visa while being here so she moved back.

The only trouble is that once you've overstayed a visa you can't reenter for ten years without a waiver. He's tried to get a waiver for the last fours years.

His child, who was born in the US and is almost five and he sees her for only a few weeks a year. Of course, this was enough for he and his wife to have another baby who is also a US citizen. So this guy, who is a US citizen has a wife and two children who are US citizens who are trapped in a war-zone because the US immigration department is refusing to give them a waiver.

Why? Because his name sounds vaguely Islamic.

I think Nick will do fine.

If she moved back to their country, how was the child born in the US?
