How does everyone feel about Charles Bukowski?

He's a bit of a misogynst but I like him. My favorite book is Hollywood. It's such a good news story compared to the rest of his life seeing it all work for him.

Yeah I can see that, but at the same time he describes how much of a fondness he has for women and how he cant live without them. You should read WOMEN, I haven't checked out Hollywood yet but I will.

That I know of I've read everything that he's written including Women. There was actually a series of Bukowski comics done back in the golden 90s that did parts of Women really well. Now I know he has said some positive things, but nearly every time he was with one he treated her like shit. I am not alone in this, even his biggest fans will typically admit this. He's a great writer, but wow, what a mess.

My wife read Factotum a few months back. She said it was good if you came at it from the point of view of it being a statement on society and not biographical.
