I am super excited for this, the only other series I have played as much as Starcraft is Age of Empires.

It is about freakin' time. I love the fact that they have brought back C&C and are bringing back SC. Now all we need is another Diablo...

Official site is up too http://www.starcraft2.com/
Ehh... I remember times when we played StarCraft like crazy in old days. It was one hell of a excellent game. I hope this one will kick :D
And now, Blizzard, please Diablo III (single player) and MMO!

Like I posted in another thread, I'm really excited for a continuation of the SC2 story but my only problem was that it doesn't look like they really bumped the graphics up that much.

I love RTS (not as much as rpg's of course) and Starcraft has always been my favorite, which makes me hope and wish that Starcraft 2 doesnt ruin the perfect balance that the first one had. Every race was pretty much equal, anybody could beat anybody else with either race, Im hoping they take extra time to make sure that doesnt change.

Well from the looks of it they are not straying far at all from the formulas of the original, so I am sure everything will be just as balanced as in the first.

I think Blizzard is smart enough to know that there is enough content to provide a player with offering the same three races it did with the first one. Adding a fourth race would probably dramatically affect the balance of the game, and if Blizzard can pull it off, then kudos to them, but Blizzard knows just how important this franchise is to them especially to the ultra competitive South Korean demographic. I'm sure they will use all that is in their power to provide the same varied gameplay strategies offered by each race while still maintaining the extreme level of gameplay balance.

You guys see the cinematic trailer??
I've said it before and I'll say it again.... bring on the Blizzard Film Division.
These guys create the most cinematic intro's and cutscenes I've ever seen in computer games. They make a lot of big budget commercial films look second rate and they've been at the forefront of CG since the early Warcraft and the Diablo games.
I would kill to see a feature from these guys.

The screenshots and especially the gameplay videos look awesome. That part where the Protos mothership makes a black hole and the Yamato Cruisers get pulled in, that just looked insanely awesome. Actually, the whole mothership looked awesome. The game looks incredibly smooth too which I love cause imo smoothness and flow make a game look better than lots of details.

Really pumped for this game, as the original game was AWESOME.;)

One little thing that's kind of disappointing to me though is how it feels like a lot of the units are very similar to the ones in Tiberium Wars. I mean, Protos mothership/Scrin mothership, Protos walker thingy/Scrin tripods, zergling explosion ability/NOD fanatics.... And those Protos aircrafts that shoot laser beams that grow stronger the longer you fire are kind of similar to the beam cannon buggies that the NOD has...

Kind of a weird coincidence. I mean, sure they're all a lot cooler in Starcraft, but still.

Totally excited for this especially since Starcraft Ghost was canceled

Ok, looks great and I'm as pumped as the next guy, but I totally thought that the smart money was on a Starcraft MMORPG that would be the successor to WoW...I guess I was mistaken...still, a new starcraft is gonna rock.

GI_Josh: We can only hope for one down the pipeline. Although i highly doubt it. The realm of WC is a better backdrop/theme for a MMORPG imo. But i am sure blizzard will be able to pull it off if they so choose.

I wonder what Diablo3 will be like :")

oh, and a note on balancing:

It is really too early to tell, but from the videos on ign.com it seems like unit balancing is boiling down to "rock vs paper vs scissor" type of deal which is a big turn off. i.e.: marine unit is needed to kill type A enemy, but cannot hurt type B and in turn is weak against type B.

while this is great, it is just not anything different. as others have mentioned before, i also would like to think that with each title release blizzard is able to be innovative and set the path for each respective genre they work on. i hope the clips shown are just used to show off the cool factor of the "new" units. i really wonder what other companies have done with the rts scene since SC was first released--i have been out of the PC gaming circle for a while. It has been almost a good 10 yrs since SC was released and while a rehash of things would probably still be good, i am hoping for better.
