Bah! I bit the bullet, went through all the registration and started playing Maple Story (http://maplestory.com) I think it will take time to get. I'm no good at Sudoku.

Nexuiz (http://www.alientrap.org/nexuiz/) is a good one, as far as straight forward shooters go.
Then there is PlaneShift (http://www.planeshift.it/) (Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlaneShift_%28game%29)), a free open-source MMORPG still in development. It is classified as BETA but from my understanding it is currently quite playable and has hundreds of thousands of users. I toyed around with it about two years ago and have stumbled onto it again recently and have been eager to install it again and see how much progress has been made. It definitely has some interesting concepts.
I stole some guys earrings in Maple Story once. I played for a few months then got bored killing slimes or whatever, despite how cute the characters were.

Played it a month or two back, It's addicting at first, but I lost interest after a week or two.

I THINK that is the web page. Linux has no shockwave player >< I haven't played it, just read about it and stuff, but it is a browser-based FPS. Probably sucks, but I wouldn't know.

There are, of course, emulators and roms. BUT, there's also CHEX QUEST 1 and 2. Anybody remember Chex Quest? It was and still is awesome!

While some emulators have the ability to play mutliplayer via the internet I don't think those qualify as online games.
