So what do you use to play your music, or videos in your computer?

I've been using VLC for a few weeks now and I really like it's simplicity and ability to play pretty much all formats. Now is there anything I can use to organize a large music collection? VLC seems to lack that.

I use Windows Media Player 11 for my music and videos. It's integrated into Vista really well and after pushing the ffdshow-tryouts people to push out a x64-bit version of their app, I can play just about any format in it.

For whatever reason, people really rag on WMP11, but it's really neat if you actually give it a chance. Video organization needs some work, but the way it presents the music is a very nice change.

I did give it a chance, it's just "too much" if you know what I mean.

Winamp for everything it can do. If I can't play it in Winamp I use VLC.

I use VLC for video, usually windows media or itunes for music, just because of their catalogging and interface. I saw the new winamp the other day tho, if I was much of a music buff I might switch for a while...

VLC all the way for video, accept no substitutes. It's just dandy, and I don't have to worry about stupid things like file compatability...it just works.

I used to be a winamp dude for music, then I got an ipod and went to itunes, and now I have a zune, so I occasionally use the zune software, but I really prefer WMP11...although I don't keep my music collection on my computer, just on my zune, so it's kind of a moot point.

It really depends on what OS I am using. When I am in the office, I find myself using QuickTime player for QT, Xvid, and WMV and VLC for theora media on my Mac Pro desktop, but when I am in the comforts of my own home using NetBSD, I use mplayer for my video needs and mpd and ncmpc/jinzora for my audio needs.

For videos, it just depends on what I feel like using. I usually use Quicktime, but sometimes, VLC is what I'll use. For music, I usually use iTunes, but I'll use Cog to play .flac and .ogg files.

Nothing beats MPD, ever. MPD and either (Depending on what I'm doing/which WM I'm in) ncmpc or Sonata.

And I have MPD running on a seperate computer so even when I'm in windows playing a game I use MPD + Putty + ncmpc.

And mplayer for video on both Linux and Windows.

I'd never come across a media player that did EXACTLY what I wanted...

...Until I bumped into j.River Media Center.

Absolutely awesome app. Not good for cheapskates ($40) but otherwise one of the - if not the - best for audio listening and player syncing.

VLC player all the way for video. Unfortunately I'm stuck using Itunes for now. I've never had any problems from it and keeps all my podcast, audiobooks, and music organized well. So don't see a need to change things up.

BSPlayer till the started putting in ad/spyware, I use VLC now. When watching media on my TV I use XBMC on an old Xbox (and I just love how easy it is to watch Revision3 content with it!)
