I was thinking of that scene in Office Space where Ron Livingston's character asks J. Aniston if she likes Kung Fu and there's this Shakespear in Love moment between them. So what geek (or non-geek) movie, music, song, etc. would cause you to think that someone is your soulmate?

it used to be if they wake up early with me on saturday morning to watch cartoons...but now the cartoons on saturday morning blow
i would say now that they watch sci-fi stuff with me, and they allow me to explain concepts like how the stargate wokrs and what multi-dimensional rifts are without telling me to just shutup

I once dated a girl that liked everything I liked, It was kinda freaky. We were shakespearing it all over the place. But one day I busted out my old N64 and she told me video games were retarded. I drop kicked the ***** right in the face at that moment and so ended my one and only love.

hahahahaha damn straight. Met this nice chick and I asked her if she played Tiger Woods Golf, she said "That game is retarded, does every guy play that stupid game", that was our last conversation.

My husband is my soulmate. I know, it sounds corny. But it's spooky... we'll be watching a movie, or tv show, and I'll turn to him and say something about the plot, like "Don't they have CSI in Japan? Why'd he pick up that gun? You know he's going to get in trouble for that". He'll usually say, "I was just thinking that" and then we both say "Because we could write this shit!" at the same time. Maybe you have to be there.
Now, if I were to have to start over for some reason, I will have pretty high standards because I have all these things already. My soulmate would have to love computers. I get positively cranky when mine needs repair or the internet is down, and I could not possibly live with someone who doesn't understand that. They must love good food, but not so much so that they are out of shape, or expect me to cook every single day.
They must enjoy books, movies and television, and not mind talking about finer plot points or characters.
They will know that when I'm in the middle of a game, I will not feel like dropping it to have sex. Do you know how long it takes to get a decent raiding party together?
They will tolerate my many artistic hobbies, and not mind when I take up a new medium, such as buying a bunch of canvases for painting when I'm up to my eyballs in wire, yarn, leather, and beads.
They will tolerate my rants about politics, school budgets, mercury in children's immunization packages, recycling, and alternative power sources. They will know how to behave in front of my grandparents, but still be themselves.
They will understand why I tear up when a dog does something heroic in a movie, but don't want a pet of my own.
And most importantly, they will love my children. And me.
Wow... I think I've just had a full-on geekout on the subject of relationships. This place rocks!

Diela, you've given me hope.
Ok, but what was the first Shakespear in Love moment. You know before you really got to know your hubby.
Like, if I meet a guy and he loves Depeche Mode's Shake the Disease...an alarm would go off.

Oh, you mean the "*ding ding ding* he's a keeper!" moment?
When he'd rather play a console football game than watch a real one on TV. I don't mind watching sports, but if they'd rather play the video game version, that's a keeper.

I think anyone that spends enough time with anyone can easily have this same sort of thing where people are always thinking the same thing and knows exactly what each other are talking about without an explanation. Im the same way with my brother and im sure Dan and Jon have the exact same thing.

It is great if your soulmate likes the same things as you. However, isn't more important that they allow you to enjoy all the things that you enjoy and vice versa.
Actually, if I found a woman that was in to the same things as me, I would be a little scared.
...OK, a lot scared.

Yes, exactly like that. Though little boys are not in play book. Or if your thing is going out everynight, getting liquored up and taking a different girl home everynight, your soulmate might get pissed. (also not me, but I know a guy.)

Alarms went off when I met this girl at a birthday party. She was wearing a Wu-Tang Clan hoodie. She had not heard their music. I guess she just liked the design. She does like Digable Planets, Atmosphere, and the game: Chrono Trigger. She plays piano too. I brought her back some sheet music from China including compositions from Spirited Away, Legend of Mana(PS1 game), and Super Mario Bros.(lerver 2! Yes folks, level spelled with 2 r's...love that Engrish)
You know you've found your soulmate if they like.....giving me head.
Addendum: and has a pierced tongue ;)

its not so much about a guy liking a specific thing, although an interest in similar bands is definitely a plus, for me. i'm definitely attracted to geeky guys because they have similar interests.. i dont think that having so much in common will make them your soulmate... the last two guys ive dated had soooo much in common with me, but those relationships ended pretty badly.
i need someone who will laugh at cheesy movies with me, its a plus if they join in when i randomly start singing and dancing, isnt a prick when they beat me at video games, will introduce me to new things (whether it be a comic, movie, band, etc) and isnt pretentious... i HATE pretentious people... bleh...

Since I thought I found my soul mate twice, and went to Vegas to marry one of them (backed out at the last possible second), and both ended up not being, though I still feel the second could be, I would have to say I don't know.
