I'm looking for a program to easily mix MP3s. I'm thinking when I get a laptop I can set it up, hook up speakers to the thing through the headphone jack and play MP3s and mix them as well, any suggestions besides PCDJ or Atomix? I tried those some time ago, I don't want to go try them again for some reason or the other.

Well if you're still considering a Mac, Garageband comes pre-installed.

No, windows, and I think Garageband is to actually MAKE songs, I want to play MP3s and mix them like a DJ would, scratch, fade, stuff like that.

Yep, thats what Gargeband does. :)

I remember seeing an attachment online a while back that allows for you to connect two iPods to your Mac and use them as mini turn tables within Garageband.

Most of the things I can think of are song editor style things, a la Garageband. Ableton Live looks pretty versatile, and I plan on learning it this summer, but I'm not sure it can mix mp3's the way you want. Audacity is a good all around music editor, but again, I doubt it can do what you want. Hm... this is a tough one.

I've made a few mixtapes with Mixmeister. (http://www.mixmeister.com/)

Very easy to use, and you can tweak a lot of settings there.
