Memorial Day.
Then 4th of July will be coming up soon, and that entire week's treated like a holiday.
Edit: LET ME CLARIFY. This is NOT a rag against Memorial Day, but all holidays in general.
Edited again: Don't try acting like you're going to sit there with your heads bowed in honor or something today. Most people see a lot of holidays as paid days off to go mess around.

today is a day sit aside to honor the men and women who have gave their lives serving this country. you don't want to take the time to honor that supreme sacrifice fine, but i find it just plain sick that you want to complain about it.

I'm not complaining about Memorial Day specifically, but holidays in general.
And I don't get the luxury of sitting aside to honor anyone. I want to be paid, I have to work.
And actually, for certain holidays, I feel it's kind of wrong to designate a day. "Okay, today you can honor so-and-so and go back to disrespecting them the rest of the time." Let's honor our troops on one day, then slam them and a lot of our vets or whatever the rest of the time. And on Father's or Mother's Day, appreciate mom or dad on their day, then who cares the rest of the time. Maybe if people were just more respectful in general....

That's the day it is today, but this is not aimed at Memorial Day alone. Did you even read the rest?

Holidays in general have gotten very commercial. Almost every holiday has a "sale" associated with it somewhere. I'm tired of that part. :)

When I was still a Christian, this is why I first started to hate Christmas. holidays are days about taking paid time off to bullshit around and to get new stuff. You don't hear many people talking about looking forward to honor gets at a commencement or going to church on Easter. It's almost all about the sales and what they hope to get.

whatever. if you want to keep on defending your hatred of veterans be my guess, but i just discovered why you have so many problems. it's not that you are fat and ugly, as you always say. is that you are mean and uncaring.

Show me where I said I hate vets or don't care. I'm complaining about how for holidays ONE DAY is set aside and that it's like it's okay to forget the other 364, that people should just respect every day. How is that mean or uncaring?
And personal attacks are not only called for, but against the rules.

again bullshit you are not saying that at all. i was so upset that i didn't take the time to quote what you originally said in your first post. oh well. as for personal attacks i consider this thread to be a personal attack again me and ever other veteran that has served this country.

Then I'm not sure I'm understanding the problem. If you don't want to observe the holiday, you don't have to. Other people feel differently and choose to observe it, whether for the right or wrong reasons.
I think you're trying to make an issue out of something where there isn't one.

Ding ding ding.... You win. :) best way to resolve this if you ask me. observe or don't, I was raised as a hovie and we chose not to observe any of them... No big loss.

It doesn't look like this thread is going to get very far without more flaming so I'm going to give this the lock.
