Do people actually watch/download it?Yes. Are you judging the response to the show based on the activity in the forum for this show?

Remember that this show has its roots in the XLR8R Magazine, and has a web site of its own associated with the magazine. As such, its a different community.

What do you want? A Bass Fishing show? Knitting? Not all shows will appeal to all Rev3 users, but this one does appeal to the Indie music crowd.

So why is it on REV3.

What is a Rev3 user?

I game. I program. I listen to music while I program.

Why do you think this does not belong? Because it doesn't appeal to you?? Great. Move along nothing for you to see here.

As opposed to pointless, subversive and sometimes obscene rantings by drug-addled, fat, men of diversity...

Perhaps a program that involves pointless, reactionary political rantings by a semi-deaf, drug addicted, fat, white men is more to the taste of Revision3 audiences.

When XLR8R and Revision3 came together to create XLR8R TV we wanted to connect both audiences, who are quite similar in the respect that they seek new, interesting trends and developments ... whether that been in music or technology. Maybe the music geek and the tech geek aren't at the same level of knowledge in their respective areas of interest, but they have a mentality about discovery that is compatible.

we got well into the technology side of things with the new episode (http://revision3.com/xlr8rtv/asphodel) on the super high-end Recombinant Media Labs ... it's a good example of how XLR8R and Revision3 fit well together.

Not everyone who watch our shows post to these forums. :) Post counts do not equate to number of viewers.

I would be interested in the average downloads this gets (As well as other shows with less active forums).

Regardless, I watch this show and while not every episode has been 100% awesome there is usually enough there to keep me entertained and looking forward to the next episode.

And most fo the music featured isn't really my "STYLE" but that doesn't mean I am unable to enjoy it. There actually have been one or two instances where some of the music on it has interested me enough to look more into it and, really, that chance alone is pretty neat.

I'm pretty sure forums is not the best representation of how people view video on the web. I'm watching XLR8R TV because I'm one of the freelance editors and I like to see what's going on. I flip through videos so fast online every day... its a very fluid process that involves more "channel-flipping" than I do with normal TV. I've NEVER written to a TV show to tell them what I thought and it is certainly unusual that I would register with a forum to voice my opinion.

FWIW, as they say. Are the other viewers of revision 3 really eating up an hour's worth of couch chatter every day? are geeks not into electronic music and indie disco rock? If you're into the forums thing... please tell us what you'd like to see more of from an "electronic music, culture, style and technology" angle.

btw crumbles, checked out your homepage (http://www.mattandthat.com/)... way to lead with the masturbation video, porn, and college pranks. yeah, I can see how you'd have some trouble with xlr8r. your site is off the books!

What the heck is XLR8R Magazine? What is this show even about?

XLR8R (pronounced "accelerator") is a magazine and website that covers music, culture, style, and technology. It was founded as a newsprint ‘zine in 1993 by publisher Andrew Smith in Seattle; the magazine currently has offices in San Francisco and New York. While XLR8R’s initial focus was on electronic music, it has over the years widened its scope to include indie rock, hip-hop, and reggae/ dancehall music as well as related trends in style, art, fashion, and technology.

XLR8R TV is a weekly internet TV show hosted by Revision3 and produced by the editorial team of XLR8R magazine. The show debuted in March 2007 and new episodes appear every Tuesday on Revision3.

Like XLR8R, XLR8R TV covers emerging music, culture, style, and technology. Episodes vary in subject, but mostly center around the groundbreaking musicians, artists and scenes covered in the pages of the magazine.

Episode are often thematic, for example "In the Studio" takes a look at the environment in which various musicians create and record, "Audiofile" showcases up-and-coming musicians with an interview and live performance footage and "On The Spot" is a man-on-the-street segment usually recorded at festivals or cultural events.

Hosts of the show include members of the magazine's staff, which contribute to the informal, insider-y feel of the show.

Hope that answers your question!:)

This show & Notmtv does nothing 4 me.

Except NotMtv had some crazy ultimate Mullet man this week
& XL8RTV has some freak screen shot on the main page.

Every week they find another band I really don't care about....

Get Grand Buffet on the show and I'll like it until then..

i liked this last episode.

i love music, it's what i'm a geek for, much more than anything else. this is not the type of show i'm looking for as a music geek, though i'm always praying for the day there's a Geekscape for album/concert reviews and artist interviews. still, i like to watch this show sometimes. it's well put together, and somewhat informative. i definitely feel like i'm being fed a telescope into different music scenes when i watch, even if they're not worth paying attention to. but that's interesting. and i'm not even their target audience.

i think indie kids are a bit too into themselves and their whole crowd. so when i watch shows like XLR8RTV i always get that vibe like "yeah we were awkward in high school, but we're the hippest mothertruckers around now." even still, it's a music show on a geek iptv website dominated by comic book, movies, and tech/internet shows.

i'm babbling. point is, quit bashin this program so hardcore guys. on Rev3 it's a step in the right direction for guys like me

Hiimm, I was correct. I see pattern here. Nothing left to say.

How would the moderators liking a show or not have any impact of its right to be aired? For all I know, all the mods secretly hate Diggnation, but that wouldn't change the fact that its the most popular show(apparently) and it would be insane to cancel.

Revision3 has loads of data on their podcasts, financials, and resources that we don't. Also, we have no idea what the details of Rev3's business strategy are either. So to try to act like anyone here who doesn't work for the company can say which shows should be canceled and which should stay is ludicrous.

I guess I do have something left to say. First that fishing comment was a joke. Second, I do not hate this show, its just not my cup of tea. Also I do not get a reply until I mention an obvious pattern. What bugged me was how you all ganged up on the poster for saying something negative. If you cannot answer with your own mind, just monitor moderator.

Why is this show alive? Because enough people like it and watch it. Simple as that.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder...err... beholder, as they say. Nobody likes everything. I watched a few episodes and it wasn't my cup of tea. That's okay. I still respect other people's personal opinions who do like it.

That said, I do find it more watchable than, say, ANYTHING with Martin Sargent in it. Personally, I didn't like the real Tom Green, so I really don't like the bottom-shelf sub-generic web version of him. However, if you read the web posts, you'll easily see that I'm in the vast minority on this one. Still, if he's popular, he's got a right to be there. Just like this show.

I personally don't like the show, but you know what? That doesn't matter. It obviously has a following (having had over 80 episodes) and appeals to people. I can just skim past it and let others enjoy it.
