I've been waiting for an episode like this, i love reading heavy complex and adult comic books about death and murder etc. but sometimes i just want something nice and easy and fun to read just to relax with, in various places (the toilet being the main one).
All that stuff sounds pretty interesting, the pirates one sounded good enough for me to go and try and find in my local comic book store.

In England we have more funny comics in the mainstream than serious ones or super hero style ones, i remember as a kid looking forward to the latest Beano or Dandy. I don't know if they are all that good now or if they were all that good but i loved them as a kid. There probably is stuff like that in America and other places too, it may be bad now as i have grown older but i wonder if there is something like or is it all super heroes for kids to choose from in comics in America and other places?

Also in terms of more adult but very crude and offensive but hilarious comics, in England you can't beat Viz in my opinion it can always make me laugh, but not to be read by anyone who could be shocked easily. There are quite different to the stuff talked about on the episode though. Just thought i'd put forward what made/makes me laugh in comics.

Justice League: A New Beginning sounds fantastic. I'd never heard of this, so thanks for spotlighting it.

Great show, guys.

I just pulled out my old Giffen JL/JLI/JLA's and my favorite panel so far is a panal with Guy Gardner and Captain Marvel.

GG - "Oh, no -- Not Captain Whitebread!"

CM - "The name is Captain Marvel."

GG - "Yeah -- it's a MARVEL that anyone can stay in the same room with you without coming down with DIABETIES"

HAHAHA Oh, SNAP!!! HAHAHA

Get it... Whitebread spikes your insulin levels and Diabetetics have poor insulin control, ipso facto Captain Marvel gives you Dibeties. Giffen you're the man!!!

Another recommend: Scott Pilgrim

if you like your humor with a "Knife to the eye!" and a knuckle sandwich or two, check out The Goon by Eric Powell. (Hold off on Satan's Sodomy Baby until you're acclimated by the regular issues)

NextWave Agents of H.A.T.E., as metioned before, is hilarious. What about Young Avengers/Runaways, that was a big joke.

What? No Miller/Hitch?

Joking.

Haven't watched the episode yet, but the first thing I thought of was Milk & Cheese. How did that go, "Carton of Hate, Wedge of Spite"? Something to that effect.

Good Show.

As far as funny books go I loved the Scott Pilgrim series.

Am I alone on this one?

(Is it because im Canadian?)

Nah, there's been a lot of Scott Pilgrim lately. Especially within the past 24 hours. It's awesome.

Evidently, when Eric Powell heard about the disclaimer cover he decided to really earn it. The Goon series is great but that book is "something special."

Be warned if you ever interview Eric. Very shy/quiet and fond of simple, simple answers. But man is that guy talented.

Wasn't there some kind of fight/incident that sparked this whole Sodomy Baby thing that he gets angry even talking about?

Good episode. I always did wonder what was up with Milk and Cheese. Also, it was good for me to get educated more on Frank Cho to show that he’s not just about T&A.

Great show guys--I'm glad to hear someone talk about Dorkin's stuff. He's still doing "Dork" occaisionally which is bitter and funny as hell.

the funny book topic of the last video show really got me interested. any other funny books? i'm a sucker for humor

i'll add: "arsenic lullaby" by Douglas Paszkiewicz if you like the idea of zombie fetuses, buy this book. "my monkeys name is jennifer" by ken knudtsen, and a quote "say goodbye to you fleshy testicles."

If I can find this topic elsewhere on the forum please direct me. I’m new

Welcome to the boards, lungs.

Just since you asked, this topic is currently being discussed in the "Funny" episode thread (http://www.revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6726). Each week we have a sticky thread for the iFanboy video podcast hovering around the top 5 or so threads on the forum. There's another one for the audio show. So if you're looking for discussion from either of the shows, look no further than those threads.

I've been meaning to check out My Monkey's Name is Jennifer. Josh did a spotlight on it on one of the video shows. Indy books or something.

Post your face off. It's not a big deal.

We did Jennifer in what we call a Vault show, where we pick a random book and talk about it. That was way back in episode #8. We also spoke with Ken Knudtsen in the New York Comicon episode, which was #7. Ken was a good guy. And the book is awesome. Had we not already done it, I would have done it on this show.

Welcome lungs! (and heart, liver, gallbladder, etc...)

Hey guys great episode. Two more funny books: Sidekick by Paul Jenkins and NextWave Agents of H.A.T.E. by Warren Ellis.

Nextwave is the funniest comic book I have ever read, with The Goon being a close second. Each issue of Nextwave had more memorable moments in it than I think I pulled out of every other (non-Runaways) Marvel book I was buying last year. And The Goon is The Goon. You either love it or you don't, but if you don't you're probably slightly braindead... or a communist... or both.

Good all on the Scurvy Dogs though. Fantastic that.
