iFanboys - we need another reason to get together online. Paper convinced me that I needed to belong to the social networking site - GoodReads. What is it? you ask.

1) A site to keep track of the books you read and the kinds of books you like to read
2) Find out what you friends are reading
3) Get recommendations about new books to try out
4) And yes, it's graphic novel and trade paperback accessible

So try it out. Come on... be my friend.

I hear ya. I've been resisting the urge to get into maintaining another site for a while now.

That's the thing I'd love this site, but I have so much crap to deal with.

For example, I haven't been to comicspace in, oh, 3 months.

I don't really touch my myspace or my goodreads page unless if someone posts a comment or something.

Comic Space I look at at least onces a day. Its either my LJ or VIRB for me.. I don't think I could handle another site..

For anybody really concerned about it, GoodReads is really easy to maintain. It's just like Netflix in a way. And it's fun to see what everyone else is reading.

Or to see how many stars I just gave Identity Crisis.

Based on Paper's comment comparing it to Netflix and went ahead and set up an account. The link's in my signature. I haven't finished adding books yet though so it'll take a while.

I think I am now addicted to GoodReads. I spent my Saturday setting up my page. I love the way you can search and add books. I especially love the way you can compare books and see what others have found interesting. As I mentioned on another thread, it's a book lovers dream.

I'd like to see iFanboy set up a group on GoodReads. I'd be glad to do it if it's okay with the Big Three. Let me know.

That sounds like an interesting concept. I'm game if the triumvirate approve.

See, that's tricky because you have to do single ratings on books, and how do you decide what rating to give a book if there are three different opinions? Or if it was the consensus of the whole iFanboy community, I think it would be even harder.

Well I'm on there now (http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/124643)... but it may take me a bit to get setup. I started... then got tired of it very quickly. I like the idea, I'm just not in the organizing mood right now. Give it a week and I'm sure I'll be obsessed with it.

A group has been formed for all iFanboys and iFangirls on GoodReads. If you're interested, check out the page for this group: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/177.iFanboy_com.

He is... but i was really glad. The easiest way to remember books I've read is go through everybody else's list and be like "Oh yeah, that was good!". So steve knocked out a lot for me.

I'll have to try that at some point. I just checked my email for the first time in a couple of days and I had over 300 bulletins from ISteve.

It shows us every time a friend updates. Don't worry, it's an option you can turn off, but I dig it :)

Yeah, everytime you rate a new book, a bulletin goes out to your friends unless they have that disabled. Luckily it came through in only two emails.
