You are amazing, did you glean that from my previous post that it was not for Windows, and that it was for hardware or are you making it up.

Whenever I have a computer (hardware) running an O.S. (software) and it is not stable, (windows locking up), I use a program (memtest) to test the memory (hardware) to try to see if the memory (hardware) is causing Windows to lock up. So, no, it is not a program that runs on Windows, but it is a program that can be used to troubleshoot windows problems down to the hardware level.

But, thanks for clarifying that anyhow, I always get Windows confused with hardwar.

you included Launchy in the first and third list. Its one of my favorite programs for windows XP, on win7 its not as useful but i still like my seach to be in the middle of the screen, on not on a corner.

You should add RBtray. Its an open source app that minimizes a window to tray by right clicking its minimize button. you can also click its icon on the task bar, or its icon on the window and choosing minimize to tray. Its one of my favorite programs for windows XP, again i wouldn't use it in windows 7 since its collapsing icon design allows you to run 50 aps and you wouldn't notice it to much.

All of these could actually fit on one single USB drive and that is what I'm going to do.

I'm using utorrent and ccleaner already, but i didn't expect there were this much softwares less than 2mb which serves a lot of purposes. You can add Miranda (chat client) in there as well.

Does any of you have a list of useful portable applications? I could use one.. or many.

Actually, I've come across a couple sites that do "free portable application suites". You have the sysinternals 12mb suite of utilities. You have http://portableapps.com/ which I discovered by watching Leo Laporte's Twit network. Then from lifehacker you've got http://lifehacker.com/5502751/zeuapp-downloads-82-awesome-open-source-apps. The lifehacker one is apparently just open source stuff but I'm sure it's all good. Then again, you could always have a blast looking through sourceforge, http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/, http://www.techsupportalert.com/, http://www.filehippo.com/, or even places like softpedia if you just want to go on a free software binge.

Edit: Also if you'd like to add monpwr to the list that'd be cool. It's useful to those people who have laptops and can't turn off the screen or want the screen to remain turned off and not have to worry about accidentally brushing the track pad or mouse and turning it back on.
