Dude, if you're already in the dog house, you should have gotten Campbell's Black Diamond Detective Agency, it's freaking brilliant.

The only thing keeping me from following suit is the fact that I have so many good books waiting in my stack as it is, that I know I'll never read anything I buy new for a while.
If that wasn't the case I know I'd be spending like crazy.

Yeah, I say to myself every weekend that that's going to be the case but it never seems to work out that way.

If necessary tell her that you totally have indie cred now (except killraven)

Yeah, because that's what girl friends care about is your indie cred.
Seriously, easiest way to get out of it, and I speak from experience, tell her she can make a reciprocal purchase of equal value. You can have no input into the purchase and you can't give her any grief over it. It'll work 9 times out of 10.
tell her that you cheated on her
she'll forget all about the credit card bill

Just cry a lot when you tell her about the bill...I bet your girlfriend will really respect you if you cry about comics...
that's true
and pull clumps of your hair out while you do it

They are.. I love JGG's idea though.. Grant it, it might come back to haunt him.. Isn't it his money? He shouldn't have to sweat it if it is.. If she really loved him, she'll understand and look past it right?

Well, I think it's the saving for the house part that makes it sticky. The idea is that he should have "known better."
I've been there...in the same situation. The solution...PAY IN CASH! NO PAPER TRAIL!!

How has no one not said this yet...
Buy her a present. It will say "Look how much fun it is to get things, you can't take this from me" and "I love you don't be mad at me!" all at the same time.

Or better yet, call the comics a gift for her. You're sharing your interest with her. And then she'll feel bad because she's not as into them as you expected, and she'll in turn make it up to you with yet another gift.
Win win win WIN!
EDIT: It should be noted that I do not currently have a girlfriend and have already anticipated the purchase of many, many cats. :(

Buying presents for her and dipping into the house fund further could backfire though...
JUst tell her you got a second job stripping on the weekends.

If she gets mad at you dump her for someone younger and hotter.
That'll show her that there are worse things in the world than a few comic books!

I like what Conor suggested because it basically insures that you end up better off then where you started.

How can something so cynical, be so hilarious? (Assuming that was the intention. Otherwise someone needs to watch this guy, what a killer.)
Okay okay okay... I got it, I got it. Make a few sweet money saving gestures. Like making a nice dinner at home for her instead of going out to eat.

She doesn't need to know what's in those boxes in the post. Open them out of sight. You can borrow shoes from street vagrants and say that the shoes were what really came in the mail. They're vintage. They're supposed to smell like that.

Surreptitiously swap the comics out with books on home repair and gardening so you can tell her you are just planning for when you get the house, that you want to be sure it is absolutely what she has always dreamed of....

and then for mother's day you can get her a bowling ball Fred Flintstone

Who's this "Seth" guy?
I think Seth is Canadian.
"It's a good life if you don't weaken" is a great book. Basically it's autobiographical about Seth searcing out original artwork from an old Playboy/New Yorker artist. But it's sooooo much more than just that, it's one of the few books that evoked a genuine emotion from me. It captures the sense of isolation a person can feel in today's society so well, and yet leaves you with a sense of hope.
Great book, recommended by a guy in a store in Richmond VA, for interest sake. And the name inspired a Tragically Hip song.

Well, I told her.
She asked me if I got her lost girls (swear to god). She might just be trying to blind side me so I don't expect it when cuts my fingers off.
As for crying infront of her, I would but I think she would just enjoy taunting me more. She's evil I tell you (really she's great and sweet but still) evil.
Its a sad fact but most girlfriends are great and sweet but also evil.
Mine get my Books from my LCS for me and one day i swear to god she had... ... ... ... god i cant even bring myself to say it.. ... ... ... she'd rolled a spine.

Mine??? More than one? only single people would envy that, the rest of us see it as more trouble and more crap movies that we have to rent.
As for a rolled spine.... well Capital punishment is just too good for some people.
