Have you read this this???

I can't decided if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I can't decide if this is a brilliant move to produce a 52-style weekly comic without actually copying the idea of a weekly comic or is this is a gimmick to get me to buy two more Spider-man comics every month. I guess it depends on the writers they get to write Amazing after JMS. Are they getting the 52-crew?

I pretty much agree with your points. However, the non-ASM books always seemed peripheral to me and having them all as ASM would seem to integrate the 3 books better.

I'm excited by the prospect of having 1 Spider-Man, 1 Spider-Job
buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

I'm a bit apprehensive about:
1) their decision to ship 3xs a month
2) their decision to use 3 teams that will do their own sub-stories to conclusion. This sounds great but if one of them is slow - it's off the rails
3) the level of talent that they'll get on it

It seems like Marvel is re-titling the other two books "Amazing."

I've said for a long time I don't think any character, even the most popular of ones, needs any more than two titles a month at the max. You can only tell so many stories with the same character, otherwise you just dilute the pool so to speak. I like this idea, but I think three times a month is kind of excessive. I'd just stick with biweekly.

It's more than that, though. What I got from it, is that you'll get Part 1 of an arc, one/two weeks later part 2, then two/one week(s) later part 3, etc. As it is now, all three titles each have entirely different story lines going. They're each independent. It's less like renaming the other two books "Amazing," and more like canceling the other two books and shipping ASM three times a month.

I think it's great. However, I do buy three Spider-titles a month already (don't know why, most of my interest in the character has dissolved). So for me, it's the same amount of money, but three parts of one story instead of one part of three stories. The former being more preferable, for me.

Wow. That is sort of glorious. If it's handled in a way similar to that recently described in that New York Times story (team of writers working with one "show runner" like a TV series) then it is more or less what I've wanted to see for a long time now. Not thrice a month, mind you; I just wanted them to cancel all the Spider-books but one, and stop telling three seemingly unrelated, often contradictory stories each month.

And hey, maybe if it works they'll finally cancel every x-book except Uncanny and my dream world will be one step closer to realization!

And I'll be the first to open up the Neo Pangaea Comix Shoppe.

Cobolt Ingots and Sapphire Chips only, please.
