Awesome show, educational and fun at the same time...Bert Monroy knows what he is doing and seems like he enjoys teaching. The Bob Ross of millenium. Anyway, great show and can't wait for more to come.

This is a thread for anyway to provide feedback on Pixel Perfect(Ya know, if you didn't get that already)

Hey guys,

Just wanted to thank you for another great show. Bert does an awesome job, and the show seems one step above PhotoshopTV and some of the others out there.

As a side note, the registration conformation email has the link http://testbed.revision3.com/forum/register.php?a=act when http://revision3.com/forum/register.php?a=act is what seems to work.

Anyways, thanks!

Nicely made show. I'll definitely be watching this every time a new episode comes out.
I saw the segment from TSS though, and the second method is DEFINITELY better. thnx guys!

I really enjoyed Pixel Perfect tremendously, Burt turns PS into a creative medium, instead of an image editing tool.

PLEASE make more.

i have just added this as my must watch shows! although the large xvid i downloaded from bittorrent had issues it would like 'lagg' and when he waved his arms around it would leave a trail then go away.

The thing with this show is that he can take his time and explain everything step by step. This, of course, not being the case when he would make guest appearances on The Screensavers and saying that you could find more details in his book.

After watching the show, I was able of producing those lightning bolts in no time. It feels really satisfying when you can walk away from a show like that knowing you've learned something new.

<3 Bert.

I'm just going to steal your tablet, that's all.

All of the new shows are a keeper.. would be cool if Mystery's of science would have Bill Nye or something. But I have not watched notMTV yet I might watch it soon. But back on topic, Pixel Perfect rocks, I still remember all of his old walkthroughs on TSS and CFH.

Pixel Perfect was really cool! I can't wait to see another episode of it. The video quality was also outstanding. Had no problems with the h.264 version. It might be pretty cool if you guys posted the image he is works on for each episode so viewers can try the same technique on the same image.

i have just added this as my must watch shows! although the large xvid i downloaded from bittorrent had issues it would like 'lagg' and when he waved his arms around it would leave a trail then go away.

I noticed that too. I think its becuase the show was filmed in HD. At the end in the credits it lists: Alex Lindsay, Alex helps out with Macbreak

http://www.macbreak.com

Which is filmed entirely in 1080p HD. And also in the credits they list a HD capture tech. So I think in the encoding process down from HD the "lag waves" developed, I wish they would have just realeased it in HD.

Large xvid does seem broken, and apparently is at 640x360. The h264 version is at 960x540.

this is the h.264(108mb)
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4021/pixelperfecth264fi2.png

this is xvid(116mb), artifacts included
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/3861/pixelperfectxvidml0.png

I grabbed the screen with Media Player Classic using ffdshow's decoders, and converted them to png-24 in photoshop. The h264 just completely blows away the xvid version in all ways possible, resolution and in filesize. Is there any particular reason you guys are even using the xvid version?

On a side note, I love that I can read the menus and everything he's reading, it makes it that much easier to figure out what he's doing if he forgets to mention which menu something is in.

Yes accutally. I use to download the H.264 and watch it on my PC. But now my DVD player is player alos DivX and had a USB port. So i load up my old shuffle with what ever Rev3 shows i'm planning on watching, and then load them up on the HDTV. I'll agree the H.264 is the better file, but I'd rather watch from the couch than the computer chair and desk. :)

PixelPerfect is without a doubt the best program from Revision3.

A couple of questions:
Is there a release schedule?
Where is the RSS feed?

it was alright he seemed to know a lot about the topic (duh) but the project was not as good as i would like to see. How often are you going to use those things he showed? I would love to see some how to make people older, make zombies and others of that sort that have showed up on digg!

10-01-2006, 03:47 AM
Like he explained at the end its not about the outcome of the project he does, but the process that he uses to get there. I for one thought the wizard was kinda lame, but I can definitely see applications for the techniques that he used.

I absolutely love this show. I've been an avid Photoshop user for about a year now, and if this show is released regularly, it will easily rival with Diggnation as my favorite Rev3 show. It's got a great look and feel to it and Bert Monroy is a great teacher. Like someone mentioned, he's the Bob Ross of the new millenium.

Wow, Pixel Perfect is great.. Bert is such a great teacher and makes understanding what he is doing on screen very simple. This is probably the best show Rev3 has, it's very professional, educational and Bert knows what he's doing and is a great host. This show is not only for people that have already been using photoshop, but for people who are just beginning. I look forward to seeing more episodes, this is an amazing show. How Bert has not had his own show already is beyond me, he can teach anyone photoshop. He is not overly descriptive to the point of confusion, but conveys the process of what he is doing so greatly that he makes the most ideal host for a show such as this. Great job on this, more please!

I love using photoshop, but most podcasts about it, view it from a technical aspect rather than an artistic (which is what I use photoshop for). Bert fully understands this, and I loved episode one. My art teacher teaches a photoshop art class and I went in and told him about it and showed everyone the lightning.

Can't wait for episode 2.

The first show on rev3 I watch to the end and look forward to download the next episode. I love the choice of shooting angle on the cintiq and cutting back and forth to v/out. I also love the taletelling atmosphere created by Bert.

On the air he had to small of a time frame to do it. He basically rushed through to make it in time and that always made his segments cool but not very helpful. This show finally allows him to do what i have been wanting since the CFH days.

Awesome show! Watched it once, enjoyed it and wanted to try it out. Opened PS, watched it again and was very easy to follow. The host obviously really enjoys teaching, and its a great way to learn PS. I also like how he reminds people to just mess around with PS tools, experiment, and try new things.

Overall, this show is fun and informative, and one of the better shows on Rev3. I'd love to see more of this!

I was thinking, perhaps instead of Bert doing a different thing every show, maybe he should take one picture, and every show, he should add several effects to it. A type of series if you will. I'm not sure if rev3 is planning on doing that, but I think it'd be nice to have one picture worked on and to see the progress of that picture over several shows, while learning many new skills throughout the development of one project.

Ok first off this has the ability to be a great show.

I think a interesting idea would be for a forum post for people show their creations using the techniques of that show. And Bert could show one off on the next show before jumping into his new material.

Next would be to shownotes of steps being done along with original and finished work from Bert.

Im not a photoshop guy nor do I have photoshop maybe i should spring for the cheap version.... but anyways great show and keep it coming

It's really not worth it unless you plan on being a serious graphic artist. I believe the tablets where you just draw and it shows up on your screen(not where you see the screen on the tablet like his), start at around $300. If you're just starting with Photoshop, I would suggest checking out a site like www.pixel2life.com and doing some of the photoshop tutorials. That's how I really became comfortable using Photoshop.

bman

I am a somewhat good photoshop user, and I have been using it since I was 8, which I'm 18 now, thats 10 years, and if you look at my work and skills compared to some, I suck.

It takes along long long long time to learn photoshop, and then even longer to get good at it. The tablets make it harder.

I think the show is very cool, but would be more helpful if the product featured was open source. Do the same show but use GIMP, that would be great for more folks I would think. Since we could legally follow along.

My thought is if someone spent hundreds on PS, then they know how to use it.

Just like the countless others, I loved the show, it was absolutely perfect and I learned alot. Going to school for graphic design, this showed me alot of techniques that will be sure to help me along the way.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe "The Screensavers" did a holiday special with photoshop on how to make a realistic holiday setting/firelplace display. That wouldbe a pretty good idea for Pixel Perfect.

I was having problems getting the episode onto my ipod. When I downloaded the episode off of itunes i think it gave me the h264 version which says 'cannot be played on this ipod'. Is there any way they can release another version of the podcast on itunes that is ipod compatible?

hello, all:

was there a solution posted for this?

Pixel Perfect is the best I have ever seen. Well in case it is the only I know... Are there in America TV shows like this?

Sometimes I wonder why they use a green box to create that background Bert Monroy is standing in front. I would take a real existing one or something that looks better.

Bert Monroy explains everything very nice and understandable for everyone (even for me). He seems to me like a teacher who does not loose patience.
Very nice. I hope it never ends. :)

I dunno, but Pixel Corps (the people who help shoot PP for Rev 3) does the same thing for TWiT.tv's MacBreak. Maybe in the end, it's cheaper than actually building a set.

Personally, I like the virtual set idea, but I wish they'd make better use of the virtual screen and actually have stuff being shown on the background, like they do at local news stations for the weather maps.

I left my thanks under the recent episode (23?) about Fire but I'll say it again here - this series is much appreciated. I'm a photoshop newb and find these demos very helpful. I'll be sending the URL to a couple friends who also struggle with photoshop.
