Buffy - fav. episode

I usually don't "self-promote" my reviews/lists, but I felt this was directly connected to TRS as I go into it through the show and know there are alot of Buffy fans on this forum.

There are so many, but I'll go with the episode where Xander saves the day and nobody knows about it. Another one would be where Xander had his 'double' show up. I guess I'm a Xander fan.

"Hush" is the finest single Buffy episode.

I was watching that episode one summer (it was a rerun). And right after the scene when Buffy's mom dies, it immediately cut to one of those crappy local commercials of a dog asking "Having a rough summer?" That was pretty messed up.

I am a big buffy fan and I think you completely missed some great episodes. I am not a big fan of Anne myself. Missed some that I would have rated much higher than some on your list.

Weight of the World and the Gift. (End of season 5 and the battle with Glory). While I never was a big fan of Dawn great set up and maybe the best ending of a season in the show's entire history.

Surprise and Innocence - Angel and Buffy do the nasty, her turns bad, they kill the Judge. Awesomess ensues.

Halloween - Great character depth and acting plus Xander gets to be a bad ass. Love the Xander.

One of my favorite shows ever on television and even seasons six and seven that were not the strongest at times still had great moments.

Once More, With Feeling just was the best since it was a good musical which doesn't happen for most TV shows that try to do a musical episode. Was just great.

oh, well like I said on the list I'm only up to Season 5 (as in I just finished 4) so the list is a bit half-assed.

I haven't really watched any Buffy since it was on air - but did watch every week :)

Favourite episodes? Hush has been mentioned several times ... and with good reason.

BUT anything with Evil Willow was good, and with Xander being the only "normal" one in the group, any of the later episodes where he showed some balls and saved the day.

Didn't care much for the Initiative (?) storylines with Riley. Angel was a far better series during that time period.

Ok that's it, my wife has never seen buffy and claims to think it sucks really bad. but it's over. She's watching it. It's too good of a show.

There was some good stuff in it, but I just can't support that show. Lame...

i am reading it and its....well....its good but not great. I guess since the whole being killed by mystical forces means anyone can come back like Buffy the ending of number 3 was not that much of a surprised for me. (being a hardcore Buffy fan) its still worth the read but whedon has wrote better stuff. then again i know 4 has came out and i still have not read it. so maybe that might answer some question. Still worth the read. Good whedon humor in the book. haha.

I have to say my favorite is Once more with feeling... I even grabbed the audio from the episode and use to hearit on the iPod (yes Im a Buffy freak).... the other one would be Hush.. that episode was awesome!

BTW I heard they were going to continue Buffy's story but in comic form...

I thought angel was great, loved what they did with Wesley's character, especially in the episode in which they temporarily reverted to their former selves.

I also really liked the finale, particularly Lorne's exit.

duuuuude Lornes exit was AWESOME! Although I hated the ending but loved it at the same time. It would have been soooo Freak'n AWESOME TO SEE ANGEL FIGHT THE DRAGON! ohhh i want to see that fight. damn i hate it so much damn you joss for being such a damn good writer! Did you read the comic old friends. i though it was kind of weak.

It's funny, I've noticed there are quite a few people who hate Angel but love Buffy, or vice versa ( I've noticed my female friends tend to prefer Buffy, while the guys tend to like Angel ) To me, the writing/acting style is so similar on both shows that the differences are negligable. But hey, it's a big world...

Buffy Season 8 has been fun, It made me realize just how much I miss those characters. And it really makes me wish Joss Whedon would do tv again.

As for my favorites, here they are, by season:

Season 2:
Innocence ( Angel becomes evil, and the show goes from good to great )
Passion ( Angel kills Jenny and Giles goes ape shit )
Becoming ( Buffy kills Angel. In many ways, the moment that made Buffy a stand out show )

Season 3:
Almost everything in Season 3 was great...but these are the cream of the crop:
The Wish, Doppelgangland, The Zeppo ( Xander saves the school )
Bad Girls, Consequences, and Choices ( Faith goes bad )
The Prom ( the end still makes me cry ) and Graduation Day

Season 4:
Hush, Something Blue ( Willow's spell makes Buffy and Spike fall in love )
This year's Girl/Who are you? ( Faith and Buffy body switch ) and Restless

Season 5:
Fool for Love ( Spike's origin ep ) The Body, The Gift ( Buffy dies )

Season 6:
Once More with Feeling ( maybe my favorite episode ever )
Tabula Rasa ( everyone has amnesia )
Smashed/Wrecked ( Buffy and Spike have angry hate sex and bring the house down. SO hot...)
Two To Go/Grave ( Evil Willow )

Season 7:
Conversations with Dead People
Lies my Parents told me ( Spike backstory )
Chosen ( Still not as good a series finale as Angel's though )

Once More with Feeling is my favorite episode. I used it to rope in my friend to watch all 7 season and he fell in love instantly. I know its a bit silly because its a musical episode, but it just encapsulates the humor and feel of the show so well. Plus we get to see every character and their fears all while maintaining the drama and action the show has had before. Plus it was a quite revealing/shocking episode with the Heaven stuff and the kiss.

Anyone think Angel season 5 might be better than all the buffy seasons and the other angel seasons? I do love all the seasons, but I just loved the interplay between Angel and Spike. The big reveal of Lindsay coming back, a character I never thought I'd see again. Fred's change to "evil", which was sad and hated by many but I thought breathed new life into her character. Charles' quest to be more than a right hand man was fun to watch and devasting to watch crumble. i guess I could ramble on. But I really liked that season, I thought it was so solid. And I guess, as I said before, my favorite part was Spike and Angel bickering.

I agree with you, Angel season 5 was awesome for all the reasons you just stated. I can't decide if it's the best season or not...it might came in second to year 3, when Darla showed up pregant, kills herself to give birth to Conner ( never saw that coming ) and then the story with Wesley's betrayal of the gang and his whole slide into darkness. I'll never forget when Angel tried to snuff him with a pillow in his hospital bed. That was a great season.
