I hope this is true, just because I'd like to see Rockstar take a gamble and sell this thing with an AO rating, maybe online only. It'd be a landmark if it still sold well (and it probably would).
Odds are they'll end up getting an M and/or this is all another great PR move on Rockstar's part.

I don't beleive that Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo allow AO games to even be published. And there are no "Brick and Mortar" retailers that sell them. They could only have a AO PC version.

I think this would be great. I've never played an AO game or even seen one for that matter. Could it really be more violent than an M? Hopefully there's no prison raping!!!

GameSpot has confirmed with Nintendo and Sony that one option T2 had, which would be to accept the ESRB's judgment and release the game with the AO rating, isn't an option at all. Both companies forbid licensed third-party publishers from releasing games rated AO for Adults Only on their various hardware platforms. Though Manhunt 2 isn't slated for any of Microsoft's systems, the company has also confirmed that it does not allow AO-rated titles on the Xbox or Xbox 360.

Manhunt was crap. Adding simulated garroting with the remote makes it crap².

Thats completly wrong. The original was a horrifingly original psychological thriller that legitimetly gripped you. How it effected the player moved it beyond a simple gory murder simulater.

The original was barely a game. You sneak up behind someone, and press a single button, then watch a video of how you killed them. Great.

I wish we could see this make history but since no one will let AO's out...it just wont Happen.
I dugg the first game it was fun but i do agree with Mormonrage, it was alot of watching and not much of a doing thing.
We will still see this as an M rated game soon enough and if it gets alright reviews on the Wii i will buy it.

This is the problem with these types of ratings (for games, movies, whatever) that needs addressed. Because of the complicity of almost every distribution outlet, the ESRB or MPAA cross the line from merely rating into censorship.
Technically the problem isn't with the rating organizations but with all the companies and stores that won't sell adult rated media. But it's near impossible for all of them to change.
Maybe if just a few bit the bullet and decided to carry AO games or NC-17 movies we'd see some change.
