Yeah, but you can see a whole lot worse than that on broadcast television. You're a parent, would you freak out if one of your kids saw that?

Yeah, that's a whole dichotomy in our culture. Sex stuff for the most part is what people get worked up about but the violence nobody really notices. In a lot of the other parts of the world, it's just the opposite.

it's this cartoon that I've seen commercials for. I actually caught my daughter watching it one day and I turned it right off. It's some kind of anime-fighting thing. I'm sure that other people can tell you more. I just know what I've seen, and it certainly wasn't for kids.

This is kind of funny too. My wife grew up in a relatively urban area. Actually a few blocks from my LCS for those of you with really long memories. Anyway, we moved out here to the suburbs and she literally had never seen a chipmunk before. She thought it was like the coolest thing ever. Every now and then I'd catch her idly staring out the window at them.

Two more funny stories. Both true.

Drexel's campus has black squirrels with red eyes. ****ing terrifying. When I first saw one I immediately began looking for the other three horseman of the apocalypse.

I had a job with the AV equipment delivery and maintenance guys in freshman year. Urban campus in Philly. I worked from 5 to 10 at night. One night I'm headed out to pick up a projector and I'm passing the athletic field. All of a sudden a squirrel falls out of a tree and lands on my chest. Its claws are stuck in my hoody, and it's upside-down. It wags its tail in my face for a few seconds before it finally frees itself, lands on its back, rolls over, and races across the street. I had to sit down on a bench for a minute or two before I could go on with my night.

Yeah, a lot of messed up stuff happened when I had that job. This next one is potentially offensive, and I don't want to make light of it, but it is weird: I was leaving work just before 10:00 on a night when the mayor had been visiting for some kind of debate or junket. A lot of journalists had been around, but at this point most had gone. There's one guy left...Steve Highsmith of the now defunct WB17 news (works for NBC now). And I walk out the door as he's putting his trenchcoat on. I try to get out of his way, but he backs into me. He grunts a little dramatically for such a minor collision. I apologize and keep walking. But as I'm walking away I hear him-quite clearly refer to me with a derogatory term usually associated with a Chinese person or a game involving a wall and a tennis ball. Like..with an exclamation point. It was so weird. Just imagine your local smiley anchor man cursing you out with a term that doesn't even make sense.

Fergie's Meth Meltdown

Not so Fergalicious: Black Eyed Peas' Fergie has come clean about her addiction to meth, and in this month's Self magazine, she talks about a particularly hamper-ing moment on the drug.

One time she was so paranoid on the drug that she talked to her hamper for eight hours straight. "I remember thinking somebody was inside of it, going to come and get me, so I was talking to the person who was crawling in the hamper," she admits. Now that's a bad trip!

It's tough to contend with the hamper banshee.

Now that I think about it, bald guys are kind of lucky in that department. If your like me and like to keep a good buzz cut you can just as easily get a bad burn on your head as if you don't have any hair at all, except here's no real way to put suntan on without is looking like some odd hair gel.

My god, this IS horrible. Now I regret not watching RAW last night. I don't watch wrestling the way I used to, but I did tune the past couple of weeks because of the ridiculous Vince Mcmahon being dead storyline.

That storyline seems a little insensitive now.

Taken from the Edmonton Sun:

A law enforcement official close to the investigation says pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room.
Speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, the official also says authorities are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths.

The family was found dead Monday, and authorities were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide. Investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, 47, and son, Daniel, 7, over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

“The details, when they come out, are going to prove a little bizarre,” Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper.

Those details may emerge after the completion of autopsies scheduled Tuesday.

Ballard told The Associated Press a gun was not used in any of the deaths, but he declined to say how the three died.

“We’re pretty sure we know, but we want to confirm it with the crime lab,” Ballard said Tuesday.

Authorities also declined to say whether drugs or steroids were found inside the house.

The sheriff’s department will release the cause of death as soon as it is available, but the results of the toxicology tests could take up to a week or longer, said Sgt. Keith Whiteside.

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its website that it asked authorities to check on the wrestler and his family after being alerted by friends who received “several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning.”

The bodies were found in three different rooms: Benoit in the home’s weight room, his wife in an office and the son in an upstairs bedroom, Whiteside said. Benoit had two other children from a prior relationship.

Stamford, Conn.,-based WWE also said on its website it had further information on the deaths, but had been asked by authorities not to release it.

Benoit, who was born in Montreal, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.

At five-foot-11 and 220 pounds, Benoit was often described as a rabid wolverine in the ring. “The Canadian Crippler” had a chiselled physique and was known for his superior technical skills.

The “Crippler Crossface” was one of his signature moves, along with a flying headbutt from the top rope and triple German suplex.

Fellow wrestlers admired Benoit’s hard-nosed attitude.

“Chris was the type of guy you’d want to go to war with,” said WWE champion John Cena. “He was a good man, he truly lived for the business. He did everything for it.”

Benoit held several titles over his career but realized his dream at Wrestlemania 20 in 2004, defeating Shawn Michaels and champion Triple H in a triple threat match at Madison Square Garden to win the WWE world heavyweight championship for the first time.

Benoit’s wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, “Woman,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.

Benoit was scheduled to perform at the “Vengeance” pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called “personal reasons.”

Benoit became a standout at an early age among many wrestling prospects who trained in the famed dungeon basement of the home where fellow Canadians and professional wrestlers Owen and Bret Hart trained.

Owen Hart was killed in a freak stunt accident during a wrestling pay-per-view event in 1999.

“He was like a family member to me, and everyone in my family is taking it real hard,” Bret Hart, a five-time champion with the now-defunct World Wrestling Federation, said. “It’s almost like reliving the whole Owen (Hart) death over again.”

Benoit maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

The WWE cancelled its live “Monday Night RAW” card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

The tribute began with WWE chairman Vince McMahon standing in the middle of an empty ring, eyes welling up with tears and voice cracking as he broke the news of Benoit’s death.

“We at the WWE can only offer our condolences to the extended family of Chris Benoit,” said McMahon. “The only other thing we can do at this moment is pay tribute to Chris Benoit.”

In a statement posted on it’s website, the WWE said it “extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.”

can't watch this at work, and I'm thinking that's a good thing. Are these the a-holes that stand outside of soldier's funerals?Um, no. I don't believe I even heard of that. What are these people doing at said funerals?

the video isn't showing up because you can only embed youtube videos.Urrg. This board's software is so damn wonky. I tried o wrap it in HTML tags and it still didn't work.

Thanks for proper-ing the link though.

I'm no authority on God. You probably wouldn't look to me for religious advice. Hell, I'd think you were insane if you did.

That being said, isn't the whole "God thing" supposed to be about love? How then can you make your message "God Hates The World"? Or say things like: "Thank God for 911". I'm not as well versed as many people but even I can pull 2 or 3 Bible quotes out of my ass about what is wrong with these people.

Pretty much agree here. Although the video amused me at the ridiculousness of these misguided people. I'm sure there are plenty of religious moderates.

They protest at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the funerals of people that die of AIDS.

I heard about the whole Benoit thing last night a little after nine thirty and i was shocked. i ran down to tell my roommates who were equally shocked. I used to love wrestling back in the day (back when Mick foley was wrestling) and i always appreciated the style and finesse benoit had in the ring.
I managed to catch most of the special that was on last night. this was the first time i had watched Raw in over 8 years and i was horrible seeing everyone break down on camera. I had to turn it off after an hour because i couldn't take it anymore.
its always trajic when someone dies but the fact that his entire family is gone makes this so much more heartbreaking. I really hope that this doesn't turn out to be a murder suicide but if so i guess it truly shows us that even though we may think we know what a celebrity is like, we actually know nothing about them.
My heart goes out to the entire Benoit family and all the friends and co-workers who lost a truly talented man yesterday.
