WEIRDEST THING!!
Oh my god!
I was watching the first 2-3 minutes of this show, and the guys are like "We've found a new game", and at that second I thought "It's probably munchkin".
And oh my ****ING god, it was. I was so freaked out when Jeff said "munchkin".
By the way. Star Munchkin and the Original Munchkins are the best versions, and the expansions too.
Munchkin Fu and Munchkin Impossible is probably the weakest, although I haven't tried the superhero one yet.
But really, Munchkin and Star Munchkin (Star Munch for short), is AWESOME. It's so fun, and debating over the rules is also a lot of fun, and heated.
So funny. I'm gonna watch the rest of the episode.

I heard that the Munchkin Bites was one of the worst, even though I liked it a TON.
If you enjoyed these type of card games though, i have to recommend my favorite card game next to Munchkin: Bang! Look it up, it's great!
I enjoyed Munchkin Fu quite a bit. I usually do Munchkin Blender where we mix up 3 or more different versions and play that way.
My friends also have a way that they play where they always cheat. I've never played it this way but they keep talking about playing Munchkin while trying to cheat at the game as much as they can(i.e, hiding cards in sleeves, drawing more than they should etc.)

Okay, guys, I've suggested this before. BUT I HAVE TO TRY AGAIN!
It would ROCK if you would put a little topic box in one of the corners, where it says what you're talking about. Not like very single tangent, but the overall topic, like "Munchkin", "Fantastic four", "Sopranos", because I have to skip huuuge parts sometimes to avoid spoilers. The spoiler cam is okay, but when I'm forwarding through the Television Section I have no idea when you stopped talking about the Sopranos finally, so I don't know if I missed anything that wasn't about Sopranos.
It would help me, and probably others, SO MUCH.
Thanks.

Another good show. Funny putting Alex as the T-Rex. "Must go faster."
Movies, I am not a fan of the idea of a Fantastic Four movie. Only seeing the trailers, I don't want to see them.
TV. What the hell is with Jeff and "The Shield"? Anyway, "The Sopranos", I hated this ending too. I think Chase only had three seasons in mind to begin with. After the death of Natalie Merchant (sp) he was thrown as far as story. Anything after that was just HBO throwing tons of cash at David Chase to get the ratings. My opinion, the show hasn't been good since season three. "Pine Barrons" was the episode they were talking about by the way. I agree, it may have been the best episode ever. Then, after Tony killed Christopher, I didn't give a damn about the ending of the season. If Tony had lived, Chris was the only one to take over the business. HBO making Chase leave an opening for a movie was another huge mistake. The ending, I think, was Tony being killed anyway. They can say it later if a movie never happens. They ruined the best thing to happen to HBO.
Games. I appreciate what they said but I am out of touch with games as of late. Although, I never knew "Black" existed until Dans' racism reared its ugly head. I picked it up. It is awsome. The environments changing is the least of the good stuff. Levels take about 45 minutes to finish. That is if you are artistic about it, for me anyway.
Good stuff.

To clarify, no podcast is every uploaded to iTunes. itunes is simply a podcast agregator, which allows you to connect to various feeds and download episodes. There are other programs out there that do the exact same thing.

• Silver Suckass - I wont watch that movie because the surfer looks like silver jelly, this is as good as they can make something look with all the cgi power of hollywood. First movie - kina watchable, second movie NO WAY... Hate the look. Just like spiderman - they turn these great comic art themes into mushy, jelliefied video game crap. (and i like video games)
I love the show, but I dont think we could watch movies togther.
• I like the sapranos ending... it was ok - Pick your own ending is a bit of a cheet, but I enjoyed the last five minute. It was like sitting in tonys skin, we could feel the pressure of what it must be like to be him everyday.
• Every Season of Deadwood Rocked! Best TV series - Possible ever. EVER!
John from cinn. looks like a confusing mess.
• Steve jackson is old school, been around FOR-ever! Car Wars anyone?

Great show, guys. I was going to write off F4-2 on the strength of the first one, but after Jeff’s impression I'm going to give it a shot.
That said—I disagree with Jeff's impression of the Sopranos ending. I don't think it's a complete cop-out, but it was definitely an ‘easier way out’. I think the my main disappointment is that for a show with it's level of continuity, and production quality, it really hints at and deserves a pre-thought out story arc, rather than episodic treatment. To end as they did gives the impression, ‘yeah, sorry guys, I know you thought we were going somewhere with this story, but we were really playing it by ear the whole time.’
Which isn't to say that there should be a happy ever after ending, but rather a conclusion to a coherent story would be nice. I’d watch a lot more TV I think if shows had that integrity of story.
Also, there was an excellent interview on NPR recently discussing Deadwood, and the reasons for its odd combination of vulgarity and baroque language. I haven't seen Deadwood yet but on the weight f that interview alone I think I'll be checking it out.

I watched the first season and loved it...then by the end of the second season I think....well...(insert cheesy ripple effect here to take us to another scene)
"Well," said the stranger standing at the bar, "I sold my stake and hopped on the next stage." The man shook his head before leaning over to spit. "Tis a shame too," he sighed, wiping his mouth. "I was rather fond of Deadwood from the get-go." He quickly grabbed a shot, threw his head back to drain it, and winced as he slammed the glass on the bar.
One of the trio playing poker beside the piano turned his head to talk over his shoulder. "What made you leave?" asked the frosty-eyed gambler. He fanned his cards and set them on the table before raking in his stakes.
The stranger shrugged and licked his fingers before straightening his mustache. "I reckon it was because they changed the name." The man reached up and dipped his hat to a whore as he sauntered towards the swinging doors, his spurs announcing his every step.
The bartender, a pot-bellied man with one dirty towel over a shoulder while the other was being used to spit-shine a mug, frowned so hard his bushy eyebrows met. "Hey fella, what the hell did they change the name to anyhow?"
The man paused at the doors and glanced back into the smokey interior and waited until the piano stopped. "Same name that always ends up being thrown up on the bank's window when the gold starts comin' in."
A kid rolling a wagon wheel rim down the street paused, reaching up to scratch his head. "What's it called mister?"
The stranger squinted, deepening the crow's feet pulling at his eyes. When he answered his voice was so thick with disgust it sounded like a hinge choked with rust.

How the hell did anybody like the ending of "The Sopranos". Aside from them phoning in the last two seasons the finally was the mental equivalent of a very hard DONKEY PUNCH ! Jeff the dead end storylines such as the "Russian interior decorator" were Huge ass flaws in the show not plot devices.

I'm glad someone else had issues determining the first scene. I got hammered for being unsure!
I find it amusing that Alex was T-Rex, but I agree that Dan looked more like he was antagonizing than fleeing. However, it was the very beginning that threw me off. When Dan and Jeff kept looking at each other, I thought they were just screwing with Alex. I could not figure out what movie had 2 guys jumping in a car to make a 3rd guy chase them down.
I was also thinking T2 after watching Alex chase the car for a while. I was expecting Alex's arm to turn into metal hooks and Jeff to reach back with one arm and blow his face off with a shotgun. I think Dan is man enough to play the role of Sarah Connor, although it would be quite hilarious to see him huddled in the back seat screaming like a small child as John Connor.

Let's see...
The Shield, yes, one of the best shows on TV ever. I was never a big fan of detective shows and never watched one seriously. Fortunately, a couple of years ago I latched on after hearing nothing but great feedback. And with the finale of Season 5 (haven't seen S6 yet) I am still as drawn in to these characters as ever. GREAT SHOW!
One funny thing, in the interview with the American Film Institute (I may have got that name wrong now that I think about it), Forest Whitaker was questioned about being the 'bad guy' in S5. The funny thing is, Vic really is the bad guy in a sense but because folks had become so vested in his character, they immediately reassigned the 'evil' role to Whitaker even though Whitaker was more proper (even though he wasn't necessarily 100% by the book).
OK, Deadwood. Once again, a story I got so into and by surprise. By the time Deadwood had come out, I was addicted to HBO shows in the first place. I am a big Sopranos fan, Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers, heck, if it's on HBO, it's likely I love it. Deadwood was a total surprise. I am not a fan of westerns so much but LOVEEEEEE Deadwood! I just got Season 3 on DVD and will probably blow through most of it this weekend!
On the note that Dan says he loved S1 but not S2 or S3. I, in a way, agree. S1 was wonderful! S2 just got a little confusing at times but it is still better than almost anything on TV now. Can't wait to see what happens with S3 and the end of the series (bastards didn't renew!)...
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - Not interested, not even remotely. Even with Jeff's praise for this movie I am so against it after seeing the total trainwreck that was FF1! Ohhhh, I despised that movie! Especially after we saw a superhero movie could be made properly with movies like Spider-man 1 and Hellboy! I am a comic fan (and recently started collecting again after about 10 years break) and I bought Ultimate FF (the entire collection up until now which is 42 issues). The mythology about the origins of FF is different but it holds mostly true to the original. FF1 movie though just sucked so bad I can never get back into the series. Maybe, MAYBE a renter...Sorry Jeff...
Just saw Ocean's 13 last night with the wifey. It was pretty good, better than 2 but not as good as 1 in my opinion. I enjoyed it but I wish they had focused more time on the windfall of the games. I liked the addition of Eddie Izzard though, he was a good but underused character.
Flight of the Conchords - The initial episode is available through iTunes Podcasts. I watched it and it was entertaining. I loved the robot destroying the humans song (forgot the exact name).
I won't keep dragging it on but those are my $.02 for the day. Sorry for such erratic posts, it's been busy...

Hey everyone...this is just my second post here, so be nice :)
Ok, I gotta say I agree with everything Jeff said about FF 2. I also agree with him that the best FF flick by far is The Incredibles. I think a lot of people who hate FF2 or want it to be "More serious" miss what the FF is all about. While X-Men has the metaphor of being a persecuted minority, and Spidey is the metaphor for growing up, the FF doesn't nearly have any of those kinds of layers of angst. It really is, as Jeff said, a mirror for the Kennedy years of the early 60's....the whole gung ho adventure attitude that was still hanging on from the 50's in America. The best FF runs in the comic book are those that acknowlege and remember this fact ( think John Byrne's run, or Walt Simonson's run, or more recently Mark Waid's run on the book ) Whenver they try to get too gritty or angsty, as they did for awhile in the 90's, the book suffers. It's not meant to be that serious, but then it's not meant to be 100% Camp either. I think FF2 captured that balance pretty well.
I didn't see the Sopranos finale, but the reactions sound a lot to me like the reactions to final episode of Angel a few years ago. And I for one loved that finale. Best way for a show to go out is to leave you wanting more.
Besides, with Angel Season 6 coming soon in comic book form, it's the "having your cake and eating it too" solution. :)

I've been thinking lately & I was wondering whether anyone would ratify this notion that I'm having.
It's becoming pretty clear that there is a great divide coming between casual and next-gen gaming. Yes? Good! We're half way towards being on the same page. Okay, now next-gen consoles are the 360 & PS3. Now I'm a 360 fan & not afraid to say it and this is why... They give us games people!!!
While PS3 fans are fondling their six axis controllers for kicks we're playing Forza, Shadowrun, The Darkness, H3 Beta, XBLive Arcade Titles, C&C3 Tiberium, Dead Rising and of course many more not to mention the titles on their way like Bio Shock and Mass Effect! In contrast you must ask
"What has your PS3 done for you lately?" EddiE I want Half!!!
We need to celebrate the fact that someone's making good games and fighting the good fight for next gen gaming. I don't know about you but I don't want to live in a world with no Halo or real sim racing games like Forza, that both thrive on active community input. So stop your whining PS3 and take tutorage from the 360 cause I'm very happy with my little setup at home & I wonder how much denial a person has to be in to not be able to see this. I've been playing Forza 2 with some random people & having some awesome sessions, then comes along Shadowrun which is also, just plain fun. Oh and I forgot Crackdown!
Am I the only one who see's this?
If we don't start supporting next gen gaming it's going to get subsidised by casual gaming & dread the day the tables turn & my girlfriend bugs me, to try out this new game Cooking Mama or whatever the frek it is they'll have us playing!

I can see why Dan didn't like FF2...but I walked out of the theater saying, "Jeff was so right!"
It definately left me with that "movie high" I wanted to have after Spiderman 3...so yeah, I thought it was better than Spidey 3...much better actually.
I can see how Dan didn't like it because some of the dialogue was lame...and I understand how he thinks you can make a movie about superheroes that's a "good movie" by not using lame dialogue...but what Dan didnt get to do was read the FF and understand they ARE lame...the same way spiderman is cheesy and hokey at times...I mean, come on, the note in the first spiderman when it said "your friendly neighborhood spiderman" and everyone laughed and enjoyed it, thought it was cool...and that's the way the FF were, is, and are. The first one tried but I think they crossed the county line of lame into craptown, USA. I didn't think the first one was horrible, but it wasn't that good.
I remember flipping through the old comics back in the late 70's early 80's...seeing the tower with the "4", the flying car that splits apart, The bad haircut she had, Reeds' wierd personality resembling a cross between a mad scientiest and Mr. Cleaver, the thing's "dumb" jokes to fit his big dumb blocky form, and then Torch...a witty smart ass because he had to make up for the fact he was drawn as an outline filled with crosshatching and surrounded by fire...the fantastic four were always about feeling like that "message to the kids" after a GI Joe cartoon or something...like the comic's version of NBC's "the more you know" spots...the "Cleavers" of comics.
The fantastic four was the "disfunctional family" of comics before the term "Disfunctional family" even existed. The tower and cleanliness of their HQ also had a "corporate" and sterile feel to it compared to daredevils dirty alley, batman's dark cave, and the sticky webs of spiderman. They were different in many ways...and that's why they havn't been as popular I think...just didn't fit into the mold back in the day.
I thought this movie was an excellent replica of Fantastic Fours "spirit" and it felt like the movie was made by a fan. It made me reminisce (spelling?) that's for sure. It was a throwback to the good old days with a modern touch...and I LOVED how they did the silver surfer...LOVED it. I actually felt sorry for the guy and his curse...and when he finally faced it, I felt the same tug of emotion I did when Spiderman stopped the train in #2 and the people passed him overhead until they handed him the mask, thanking him for coming back.
Good stuff.
Ya know, I really really hope the second HULK comes back to redeem itself after the failure of the first HULK just like Fantastic Four 2 has done...
*slaps Jeff a high-five*
Good call man!
(Hey, I want to mention Alex too ...i can't remember if he said he'd read any FF? He was pretty much an indifferent shrug about it...while Dan and Jeff were totally opposite...)

Am I the only one who see's this?
Are you the only one who sees that the 360 has a bunch of great games? I think there are several million people who see that. Both these systems are young, as is the era of affordable HDTVs. It will catch on soon enough. By the end of the year 360 and PS3 are going to have loads of must-have games--and HD sets will be dropping in price like crazy. Next-gen isn't going anywhere.

Right.
Wait, what?
You should have put up a drunken ramblings warning first.

I don't care what anyone says, the Sopranos "finale" was complete BS. I thought my file was broken and I jumped up like "what the ****!?". Total cop out. Killing off Christopher was a mistake too.
I didn't get the intro till someone said t-rex. I like how the intros blend your regular lives(minus head in a box) and the scene, thats why I didn't like the ghostbusters one too much.
Flight of The Conchords is my favorite. I hope you guys like it; stoked to hear what you think.

I've been thinking lately...
This was your first mistake. Thinking too much can never lead to good things. Just look at those guys in the Manhattan Project. They thought that a little thinking would be cool then *BAM* the atom bomb.

Got to agree with Dan on the jeans thing. I'm the exact same way. Same with shoes too.

I just hope he washes them. Recycling your trousers is a really nasty, high school nerd thing to do. Trust me, I was a really nasty, high school nerd.
However, nothing is stopping him for buying several pairs of the same brand at once and rotating them.
Anyway, Dan is cute enough to attract the chicks even when he's wearing skanky week-old jeans. The average geek is gonna need the edge that a properly washed wardrobe and superior personal hygiene is going to provide.
I just want to know where I can sent these fellas a razor. I'm digging Alex's goatee, but the other guys are looking scruffy.

3 Seasons of Deadwood, all are great. I am watching S3 right now and remembering how much I love the show. The only thing is, I had a huge break between watching S2 and S3 so I am a little lost. I was suprised to see that Timothy Olyphant (Bullock) is the bad guy in Die Hard 4, took me a second to recognize him without the getup.
Another great HBO show I am catching up on right now is Entourage. I just started with S1 last week and blew through S1 and finished S2. Now I just have to wait for S3 to come from Netflix! Ah, the agony of waiting! But it is a kickin' show. As usual, HBO came through!

Just have to chime in on the Muchkin talk. I have been playing munchkin for a couple of years now and I love it. By far the greatest card game of all time.

Dan!! I do the one pair of jeans thing too!! My friends always made fun of me because I wore the same pair of jeans to school and I would explain to them that I buy a new pair about once a year because I'll always pick a favorite and decide that I don't want to wear a different pair. I used to do the same thing with shirts too so I would just buy the same shirt in different colors.
