Guys,

Is Munchkin the first experience you have had with a Steve Jackson game? Did none of you ever read/play a Fighting Fantasy book when you were kids?

Warlock Of Firetop Mountain by Steve Jackson & Ian Livingstone (http://www.amazon.com/Warlock-Firetop-Mountain-Steve-Jackson/dp/0743475119/ref=sr_1_1/002-6301893-7546434?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1182374539&sr=8-1)

Anyway, I'm glad you've experienced Munchkin, I hear it's a blast. A lot of my friends play and although I've yet to have a game, they always rave about it, so I can definitely backup the recommendation.

I don't know whether it's a UK thing, but over here we tend to think of a Munchkin as a roleplayer who likes to min/max his character sheet and is more interested in the stats and accumulation of wealth/items/power than actual roleplaying.

Muchkin is a blast, definitely.

Eventually, my group of friends moved on to The Order of the Stick Board Game. (http://www.apegames.com/oots/oots-dod/oots-dod.html) It's a bit more complex and significantly more time-consuming, but in our opinion, much better and has more longevity than Munchkin.

Yeah, it's based on a Webcomic, but you really don't need to know the comic in order to enjoy the game (none of my friends have read it). It's got a very similar humor style to that of Munchkin.

Honestly, if there was one suggestion I had to give for a board/card game, this would be it... Or maybe Catan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Settlers_of_Catan), but that's in an entirely different realm.

If you like Steve Jackson type games (self contained card games), try out Ninja Burger, I've played it more than once and I have always had a blast.
