At the least, it'll give me an excuse to try the book again. Depends on who the creative team is on relaunch.

NICE!! Looks like Checkout will have some ramifications that'll stick! Maybe I take back all my dropping it talk.

And Tony Bedard! I'm actually a fan!

Negation was one of the great Crossgen books, sadly it never got wrapped up.

Hmmm.. Interesting.. Wait? Judd Winick is not doing the last issue? :( Ay.. I guess I'll have Trials of Shazam but that's coming to an end in a couple of issues or so.

I just got some old Batman and The Outsiders issues.. I'm intrigued.

They do, but not on a team like this.

Man, DC just has NO CLUE as to what to do with Dick Grayson these days.

At least that's how it appears anyway.

I told you, they should have killed him in the crisis!:D
it would have been better then leaving him the creative limbo he's been in for the past few years

The crossover with Checkmate sold me on the Outsiders for at least one more arc. Add Batman to the mix and it might just find a place for it on my pull list. Great news.

i acatually really enjoyed the outsiders from the beginning. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either. I had to drop it around issue 15 for budget reasons, and for some reason i never though of going back when my comics budget went back up...
This batman announcement seems like a good time to get back on the outsiders train

I wonder if this is going to be spurred on by something in JLA. It would seem odd for Batman to just go start his own team if everthing's copecetic with the JLA.

Either way, I'm not too broken up about this. The book started out great, but never really got back on track after Infinite Crisis.

Some days I can't help but think I should just submit something to DC on that character just because they might say "**** it, we ain't got nothing better." Honestly, my plan would be to just pretend the last fifty issues didn't exist, and pretend I'm Chuck Dixon and that I never left the title.

Hopefully something good comes out of it. Until then, this sucks. Outsiders was my go to for my grayson fix. Wolfman's Nightwing bores me. The Andreyko Annual has been the only good issue in a while.

Me too, especially with rumors abound that Dick is going to be eventually showing up in Countdown, due to him 'not being' dead and he was supposed to be.

On the Outsiders: i was getting into them,i just started reading it like 20 ishs back. I had seen some solicits for this and theirs and arc where there's like a compitition for positions. I'm confused by it but i'm jumping on. I can't wait for "Nightwing va Captain Boomerang Jr." ,sounds like an odd kids show.

MAybe he's the new DCU Wolverine.

"C'mon guys I can't be on EVERY team"

Hasn't he always been the DCU version of wolverine in that respect? He shows up in a helluva lot of books a month (including cameos and team books) but no one ever seems to complain about him in the same vein as wolverine.
Personally i don't mind them showing up everywhere (as long as it used well) because i like the characters and i like seeing how they interact with other parts of their respective Universes

I hear that. The more Batman the better. Wolverine only bugs me in Origins, everywhere else I like him.

There's just something so wrong to be about Batman(BATFRIGGINMAN) being referred to as the DCU Wolverine.

Batman is one of greatest pop icon like EVER. More people know who Batman is then know what a wolverine is.

Anyone else really want Phil Jimenez on at duties?

Welcome to the forums Jbeck.

The ways he's been written lately, would it really be that much of a loss? Maybe it's time for a reboot of his character unless they're going to let Marc Andrecko write him.

I've been a fan of the book since it started. I wasn't too happy with the lineup during The Crisis, I had no idea what Marvel Jr was doing in this book. But since OYL I think it really jumped back. Most of all the addition of Captain Boomerang. I think they can really do alot with him and his ties with the speed force and some of the DCU characters.

Thanks for the welcomes !! As for the current state of Nightwing, I'd rather see a good writer with a strong vision for the character take the reins rather than a complicated reboot. He's been around since 1940 !!! Some writer's got to have some good ideas for him.

This evening Ron and I had the new Outsiders line up revealed to us through a piece of promotional art that will be released to the general public no later than Thursday (if it hasn't already, I couldn't find it on the net).

I was shocked, I was intrigued, I was excited.

It looks like Outsiders might be a very important book for the next, oh... 43 weeks (http://www.revision3.com/forum/showpost.php?p=155597&postcount=374).

Really only in the various Justice League books. He is the heart and soul of the team. Or he was, anyway. Check out the Giffen/DeMatteis and the Morrison runs.

I kind of like new, angrier J'onn. He was always kind of too benevolent for all the shit he has gone through.

Morrison used Martian Manhunter in interesting ways during his run on JLA. Also, he was kinda interesting in JLU. Don't know if that counts as DC proper but there you go.

Looks to be a cool team-but couldn't they have kept Nightwing on the team ? Wait, wait think about it - Bruce could bankroll it, Dick could be " field leader " or something so Bruce wouldn't get implicated in any crazy schemes ( and the JLA could keep plausible deniability )and they could argue over tactics all the time. Right ? Come on somebody gimme an amen.

Swap out Bruce for Oliver Queen and you're pretty much describing the previous Outsiders storylines. I think they want to go in a new direction.

TONY BEDARD: TALKING BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=120695)

Newsarama: The Batman and the Outsiders ad seemed to shock fans a little bit—Batman has kind of just stepped in and helped himself to Nightwing’s team. What are Batman’s intentions here, and does this mean he’s leaving the Justice League again—like the first time he formed the Outsiders?

Tony Bedard: Batman’s playing both sides of the fence. He’s still with the Justice League, recognizing that sometimes you need the “Dream Team” of super-heroes to handle the worst threats that come along. But Batman’s also a savvy observer of the human condition, and he senses a shift in the DCU zeitgeist. A number of recent events: Black Adam’s rampage in World War III, the murder of Bart Allen, the Amazon invasion of Washington DC, etc., have pushed public mistrust of meta-humans to an all-time high. Batman also knows that super-villains are mysteriously vanishing; he does the math and sees forces at work which the Justice League isn’t designed to combat. In fact, send the Justice League or any official “good guys” against certain organizations or governments, and you lose the public acceptance those teams rely on. So Batman needs a strike team that the public already thinks are bad so if they raid the U.N. or the Vice President’s office, people shrug and say, “There they go again.” And the Outsiders fit that bill perfectly.

More in link.

What, no Looker? Is she dead?

Maybe the JLA should negotiate a trade: Aquaman for Geo-Force. I always thought A-Man should be considered one of the 'big guns' and in the JLA when they have their 'big guns' lineup.

I'm a sucker for team books and this looks interesting. Hopefully it won't be a showcase for Silver Age nostalgia like two other books that I recently dropped.

Read New Frontier now. then read it again.

I like the chracter, but I do admit he's having trouble due to:

A) DC has no idea what to do with him
B) And now he looks like a skrull (see A)
