Still a work in progress, just trying to get it back to the way it was... still missing reply buttons.

Man this story is being dugg fast lol. Meh, the comment system loads way faster than it used to. I like the pretty colours too. Personally I don't Digg too much anyways so it doesn't bother me.
EDIT: I replyed twice and it didn't show up. Now I just learned you can't CTRL+F to find a post you replyed to, you have to remember that post and expand to see your reply. And your comments don't show up right away either. Thumbs down on this new comment system. Bring back the old one or fix some of it please.

I don't understand why people are so upset. Personally, I like it (fetching comments is kind of slow though).

I also have a beef about not finding specific posts using Ctrl+F. Digg to start another revolution! (http://digg.com/tech_news/New_Digg_Comment_System_FTL_Old_System_FTW)

That's what I don't like. I usually use Ctrl+F to find where I was because that's where I last left the conversation.

of course i'm completely biased since i work there...but i really do like the comments. it addresses some very serious issues really well. top posting, a common abuse i see every day of every submitted story....is resolved, or at least promotes better behavior. also, the threading creates a social change in user commenting behavior. the behavior is to slow the user down. the methodical approach tends to promote a better discussion. users are "less" likely to rush into overly emotional responses.
sure, there are minute fixes that will help the system run smoother. but the concept, look, feel, and functionality are solid. what we're seeing on digg today is no different than ANY OTHER feature launched on digg. change is hard for people. believe it or not, people were SCREAMING for digg 2.0 to revert to 1.0, and so on with every other digg release. This will pass, emotions will calm, it'll be alright.

I am quite fond of the new comment system. It used to take some time to load pages with a lot of comments, but with the new system, they load so much faster. Kudos to the Digg team!!

I just want two things back:
1. Auto-Auto Expand. I want to set this setting to apply to all stories I enter. I don't want to have to do it everytime I enter a story.
2. I want the Ctrl+F function back!
Otherwise it's fine how it is. I don't see a issue with the boxes or anything. I like how it allows you to comment to everyone instead of just one person as before. But the two above things are a must because it's a waste of time to have to set the auto expand on each page and it's a waste trying to find my comments (which from what I understood are hidden from me).

The CTRL + F (apple key + F) works just fine on my Mac. ;) :P

Yeah it works for me too. But the problem is if you are searching for comments in the thread.

Alright. I'm using it more and more and starting to get used to it. I actually like it a lot now.

I like commenting like the forums, digg's system is decent since it allows for the community to bury stupid comments. Looking at it now, I don't see a big problem. Communities kill advancement.

It takes some getting used to, that's for sure... but for the most part I like it.
And I like the lines too, those are helpful, actually... design wise, maybe they'd look better as a more subtle color, but whatever.
The thing I don't like... is that if you bury a parent, it collapses the whole thread.

That usually happens any time you bury a parent.

I agree about Ctrl+F Very often I post comments then go back a day or so later and see if anyone replied or if anyone dugg me up/down. I also noticed a bug. Once you bury a comment you can no longer look at it or any replies to it. If you click the Expand comment option it starts to expand, then just snaps back shut.

ok, I agree. Now that fully expanding and CTRL F work, I am starting to really like it. It feels like the comments have improved in quality.
Sure it takes longer to view comments and quickly gaze over them, but I need to spend less time reading 100s of comments on stupid internet videos anyway.
So good work, team digg. My original post was rash and unnecessary...:(
