So I want to completely wipe my HD to make it factory fresh to install Vista. I went ahead and made a .iso of DBAN (http://dban.sourceforge.net) but now I think it is stuck, it has been on 20.02% for a good while now. The timer doesn't even move. What do I do? Also, what would you use to completely wipe out a HD?

I would just delete the partition...

Or use a big magnet, haha.

Well, I started over, just held down the power button and started over. Seems to have worked, nothing happens when I put on the computer, just the Dell logo and nothing. Have to try reinstalling the OS now.

coincidentally I'm using boot and nuke right now on my old machine. First time, also, and had some 'issues.' When I would hit enter at the prompt my keyboard wouldn't do anything at the next screen (It worked a bit the first time but then froze so I had to restart). When I just typed AUTONUKE and pressed enter it worked fine.

Well at least i know that when using Dban, you don't really have anything to lose...

I'm not familiar with Boot & Nuke: is it the same wipe everything as dban, or do you choose what to wipe?
