I remember some episode Kevin and Alex both talked about their favorite bottled water. The only one I remember is FIJI.

Also, what is their favorite beer? Is it chamay? Where can I buy that? Cause I haven't seen it here on the east coast.

Thanks

I think it is Chimay. I have a bottle of it in my fridge. Good stuff.

Not sure where on the East Coast you are (I am slap bang in the middle), but Chimay isn't hard to find ... you just need to step away from your local supermarket and go a little more exotic.

CostPlus World Market have a great selction of beers from all over the world (not something you'd expect if you've never been inside). Whole Foods also have a good selection. Both of those are pretty much national chains, so the odds of finding one are good.

Apart from that, Total Wines, Beverages & More, and other specialst retailers also often carry Chimay. IMHO, it an OK beer, but you can do better ... like this (http://www.unibroue.com/products/maudite.cfm) or better still this (http://www.unibroue.com/products/fin.cfm) (and that is coming from an Australian beer snob).

Save the earth! Skip the bottled water. Fiji water is the worst offender.

Fiji is a poor environmental choice for bottled water. Would you openly support a dictatorial government that was put in power by a military coup?

Well. Umm ... yes. The mineral content on the water just makes it taste better. Much better than the chemical/mineral content in my local water supply (which we get continual "sorry but we were out of compliance on the following dates" notices - thanks for the warning AFTER the event).

if i buy bottled water i buy the cheapest thing the store has got. really i am against bottled water on principle. anyone trying to charge me that much money for a bottle of water is out to get me. i just don't trust people like that. at my house we are hooked up to an artisan well so the water is damn tasty. but tap water does fine by me. denists have be worried about bottled water for a while now. tap water (from a country or city source) has fluoride in it and with the raise of the "bottle water myth" more kids are getting cavities.

If you dont like bottled water, why not get a filtration system? There really isnt any ecological footprint for that.

Also, bottled water has more lax regulation then tap water. You can complain about the tap water in your area all you want, but at least be aware that when they screw up, its all over the news, and few if anyone is actually harmed. Not at all the case with bottled water. They **** up, and to avoid any bad press, they buy out the person they screwed over and hope no one else links them to the problem.

I'd also like to point out that the leading brands of bottled water are just filtered tap water anyway.

yep which is why i don't trust them. pepsi co makes both pepsi and aquafina (or whatever) same water and same bottle for both products. a pepsi has all kinds of stuff in it yet cost the same as aquafina (or whatever). that is a ripe off. nope don't trust them at all

I'd also like to point out that the leading brands of bottled water are just filtered tap water anyway. Its funny that different companies take different approaches.

Sure there are "natural spring waters, bottled at the source" - some better than others, but most are just reverse osmosis carbon filtration systems, or steam filtration. Unfortunately, by the time they have cleansed the water to remove all the bad stuff, it tastes lifeless and flat. I think thats why I like Dasani (Coca Cola bottled water) - it has added minerals, and a consistent taste.

For most of our use at home, we buy water by the gallon from those "vending machines" filling up at $0.39/g our existing 5g water cooler bottles. It is the only way we can get water to a suitable chemical level for use in our fishtank (oh yeah - my wife also likes it for her coffee). Oh, and drinking the local tap water makes our dog sick ... and if the water is crappy enough to upset a dog's stomach, that is telling you something. There are days when I wished we lived in the big city with a decent water treatment plant instead of the half ased one the county runs here (that was recently put under state adminstrative review because of its consistently poor performance).

Putting in a filtration system at home is something we have thought about - not a full on unit, just an under sink one.

Actually, I would be surprised if bottling and manufacturing Pepsi is much more expensive than plain water. It's well known that the margin of soft drinks at fast-food restaurants is higher than any of their other fare. Ironically, the Mcdonald's Corp makes sure they get their cut by charging a shit-load for the Mcdonald's paper cups. Have you ever tried to get an empty cup and Micky-Dees? Don't bother.
