With Digg, you have this thing where people--anyone--can pick and choose the stories they find interesting, and promote them to a group of other people. This is a fascinating idea, so I propose the question: Why stop there?

What if there was a podcast that was entirely dictated by the users? Users could pick the title, pick the topics, and hell, on occasion they could pick hosts. A community-based podcast.

Of course, a potential problem would be a lack of users, but with a platform like Revision 3 to launch off of, I'm not sure this would even need to be thought about. Furthermore, a problem is subject matter. I think this is where the idea is interesting, because it is easily adaptable. You could do this with video games; for example, the community could ask the hosts to talk about next-gen gaming, or, even last gen. Have them talk about the Dreamcast, if that's what they want. But, this could also be applicable to movies, music, books, and a variety of other things.

This is not necessarily an idea for a podcast, per se, but a new way to produce one. It could be pretty cool or a complete failure. At the least, I think it would be a neat experiment.

this right here is a great idea. it'd be even cooler if it was interactive, like how DL.TV is live and you can email them crap while they're airing

i think its a great idea too, and i know you watch trs..but dont you think they already kind of are trying to do that? with reading the forums and emails and such. most of the topics people want to hear about they discuss already, I just feel like if EVERYTHING was picked by us, theyd have too many opinions to select just one topic, and the show would eventually just be what they wanna talk about anyway

I think it could be good, but there is a problem.

The thing that makes Diggnation good is that the hosts pick topics they are interested in and are, therefore, more interested in them and more interesting to the viewer/listener. To solve the problem, this hypothetical show would need hosts that could be interesting, funny, or informative when talking about anything, including subjects they don't want to talk about. It wouldn't be too big of a problem, though. The Screen Savers guys probably weren't always covering the things they were most interested in and they still did a good job, but they were tech people on a show that was almost always about tech things, so the subjects were never too far from their interests and expertise.

this is a great Idea

the choice to pick guests is awesome. You could have 5 guests that are willing to be on the show and then you have a poll to see what the people want.
