I have a big problem.

I just recently discovered Rev3, although I have been reading Digg for a while now... and I have a 5G iPod so I thought it would be great to watch it at school, etc.

The problem is that whenever I try to download some of Rev3's video podcasts Windows crashes and I get a BSOD. (The ones I have tried are Diggnation, Systm, and thebroken... the video versions) This doesn't happen with any other podcast, or with any other program besides iTunes. I've tried reinstalling iTunes - twice actually, rebooting, re-suscribing to the podcasts, etc. I don't know what else to do and I'm quite frustrated because all I want to do is watch some frikkin Rev3!

Actually, thebroken seems to work fine now... but certain episodes of systm and Diggnation are still screwed up. Episode 65 of Diggnation is one example. In case anyone was wondering, I have received two different STOP codes.

0x000000c5 when running windows normally
0x00000005 when running in safe mode

Please help!

Sup,
Step one : format your hard drive.

Step two : Make friends with Linux.

I had a feeling "format your hard drive" would be the first reply. And second of all, I'm a windows guy, no linux for me.

Can someone please help me find a way to fix this without reformating?

You can format your machine to run either. My laptop has both. When I start up, it's just a matter if clicking which I want, Windows or Kubuntu.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291810 <- this is the article relating to your error.

Either dodgy driver or my guess would be issues with your ram, possible first signs of a faulty ram stick.

anyway hope this helps.

That link doesn't apply to Windows XP, only 2000. (Look at the bottom).

Also, there is no message with the STOP code.... just the code itself on the 0x000000c5 one.

The 0x00000005 code has the message INVALID_PROCESS_ATTACH_ATTEMPT with it.

Could someone please try to help? I've been working on this for almost two weeks and no solution as of yet.

This one (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=887742) deals with XP and 2003. The solution is one of the Windows updates.

I just installed that and rebooted. No luck.

I'm starting to think this is just some wierd problem that only I have and can only be resolved with a format, which I don't have the time or energy to go through right now.

If that is the case, what is the best way to obtain the rev3 videos in ipod format without using iTunes?

I've had the same problem ... ever since v 7.0 was released. The Microsoft patch didn't help. Some users in the Apple forums have said that AVG or some firewall software is to blame, but I've uninstalled mine, and it still crashes. I've had it crash on Diggnation and TWiT podcasts, so I don't think it has anything to do with a specific podcast.

System Specs:
Windows XP w/ all service packs
Asus A8V motherboard
AMD64 3800+ CPU
2gb ram (forget the brand, but it's good stuff, stable, and tested)

I'm kinda at a loss, and just bought a Nano that requires iTunes 7, so I'm sorta screwed.
