Hi everyone,

I had a web design question I thought I'd throw out to the forum to see if anyone might know the answer.

How do you get a banner or graphic to resize with the browser window? I'm using Dreamweaver and Fireworks mainly as my design tools. I design the graphic in Fireworks and then import the layout into Dreamweaver. And it all looks great on my 12in Powerbook display, but when I view it on anything bigger than say 15in wide there's always white space on the right.

So what am I missing? I'm assuming it is because the Fireworks images are fixed width, but I don't know how to make them not be fixed width or if it is even possible.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Or if anyone knows of good online tutorials that would be cool too. I've been searching on google and coming up empty probably because I'm not sure what to search for.

Thanks!

Images are fixed width... You'd need to design it in css/html or possibly flash to get it to stretch with the browser window.

Thanks. :) I was thinking I could do this with flash, but really wasn't sure. I'll give it a try.

Sorry to jump in and change the subject a tad :D, Dreamweaver and Fireworks easy to use? I use to have them both but never opened the programs to use them. Thought of starting a site to display my photos and a personal blog maybe some other stuff as well instead of using flickr and blogger.

I think they are fairly easy to use, but it does help to know html and css to control Dreamweaver better. I've been discovering this as I use Dreamweaver more and more. I've only taken one 3-day class on Dreamweaver and one 3-day class on Flash and they are fairly straight forward apps.

Fireworks is really easy. And the nice thing about Studio 8 is that the controls are basically the same in all the apps so once you learn one, you'll see a lot of the same commands used in all so it makes learning the next on easier. I haven't used the lastest versions so I can't say if it is the same for them.
