Okay. I've really been enjoying Nova so far, but this new arc has me confused. And not just because it ties in with Annihilation and now, Annihilation Conquest.
Right of the bat, a spoilery question dealing with the end of this 4th issue.
The Nova corps corpse at the end that turns the blue chick into a Nova corpsman....is that our guy? Is that Richard Rider, crash landed on the planet, or is that one of the other Nova corps from the Annihilation wave?
I think that he's passed part of the power onto her. He can do that right? He said something about deputizing backup.

I think the worldwide passed all the power to her. I was wondering this as well. I def think that was Rider that fell to the planet since it was the world mind that started talking to her.
In the first Annihilation series the world mind told Rich that he was the last Nova.
My question is: Is he dead? If so WTF?!?

Exactly. It just feels like such a waste. Doesn't seem like something Richard could come back from.

Wait, check out the cover to #7... (http://www.novaprimepage.com/previews/nova7cover.jpg)
And my hormones would never forgive me if I didn't link to the cover to #6 (http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale/lib/view2.htm?filename=/comics/onsale/covers/0907/NOVA006.jpg) as well.

Isn't that a different costume?
I don't know what is going on. All I know is I don't want to read about some kree blah blah having the power of the worldmind.
I don't see how they would use the whole Annihilation series to build this character(Rider) to in his fourth stand alone turn him into a toasted corpse

They're definately not going to leave him for dead.
I've started loving Nova during Annihilation, but let's be honest, he's a Green Latern rip-off. He's the last one, so now he's tasked with rebuilding the Corps. Only difference instead of one midget blue guy guiding him he has a computer thing in his head.
The WorldMind will run around in the blue gals body while Rider's body is getting fixed up. Issue 7 will probably be his triumphant return, and when it's time for him to re-recieve the power from the blue gal, he won't. He'll tell her to keep it and ask her to help him.
They made him into a bad-ass military leader in Annihilation so I can't see that not carrying through to his own series now. He'll travel around trying to figure out a way to beat the Phalanx, and in turn pick up new people to be Novas.

They should make the Hulk a nova. That'd be cool.

I have a feeling he'll take back worldmind but will let her keep some of the powers.
I'm not exactly sure if he plans on rebuilding the corps though. He never really said he was going to do so or to give up the ocmplete power.

When he first got the entire WorldMind back at the beginning of Annihilation they set it up that he HAD to get rid of the complete power. Supposedly it would burn him out over time.
I just don't think he planned on doing it so soon, but he now has an oppurtunity and he'll most likely take it.
Plus how do you beat a crapload of people/aliens/Phalanx? With your own crapload of people/aliens/Novas.

I enjoyed that book too. But who the heck is Wraith? I can't find anything about him. Is he a whole new character or an old crappy one that doesn't even deserve a Wiki page?

I've never heard of him either and I'm guessing he's a new character.
He's bad ass though. On first impression though, his known abilities were ridiculous

He seems a little sterotypical to me. Oh look he's a bad-ass that doesn't say much, he wears a leather-ish long trenchcoat, and he rides an outer space Harley.
I do want his gun/whiplash/sword thing! Someone needs to invent that right now.

Yeah that thing was crazy. Not to mention is black fog that came out from under his trenchcoat

He is pretty much Lobo, but a little more gothy/emo-ish. I'm curious to see what is going to come of him.
Oh and K33K3R he is a new character.

The panel for this event at NYCC almost got me to buy the series. I loved the art and the character designs - Wraith being my favorite - but ultimately it didn't hook me enough.

I almost agree with you Conor. I'm starting to sway on the new Conquest stuff. Its lacking something that the original Annihilation books had.
Of course I'm a comic geek so I will continue to read Wraith and anything else with Annihilation on the cover.

It's funny that you say that. I have exactly the opposite reaction to this cover - immediately I knew that I'd never want to read it.

I think that ultimately I ended up that way too, I was just really taken with the art and the space cowboy design.
everything about it turns me off
as an example:
Even the font that they used on wraith - it looks ribbed. I'm not even a fan of chunky peanut butter. I like it smooth.

I love chunky peanut butter, especially on a saltine. That's lunch like 8 times a week during Lent.
(I use Lent as "Extreme Endurance Challenge")
it sounds like you use those 40 days to "lend" me your food

I have been really enjoying the Nova series and can’t believe that they will kill off their main character in the 4th issue. My theory is that the world mind placed a portion of its power into the Kree woman and left the rest so that Richard Rider and be slowly healed and will most likely not show up till Annihilation: Conquest gets itself underway. But over all I don’t think he’s dead.
P.S. Cap will be back.

The thing is with this one is that I don't think anyone outside the writer knows what is going on with this one.

the introduction of the kree woman points out that her specialty in "battlefield medicine", so I think betwen her and the world-mind, they'll nurse richard ryder back to health.
