I know Demonoid is something to do with BitTorrent, but I have no clue why people keep asking for an invite? Can't you Google for them?

Demonoid now only opens registration around once a month, but the schedule is erratic.

If you want an invite, I need to know if you have any accounts on other trackers since I don't invite leechers.

While torrent sites are mainly used to upload/download copyrighted material, Black_Magic DOES have a good point here. Torrent sites are often used for the distribution of open source software.

I have to admit to a mild amusement to how easily the kid was just egged on and kept coming back for more. Should have stopped posting 3 posts ago.


But as far as file sharing, lets be honest guys. Why do you need to get into a secret torrent site to download and upload linux distro's that are all over the web. If your gonna pirate music and movies, at least have some honor about it and dont straight up lie. But then again, if your pirating what else can be expected. Im not coming down on anything, ive done my share in the past and oddly most of them come with a nice little text file that says " Torrent downloaded from http://www.Demonoid.com ", but trying to deny it and say most people upload legal files is funny as hell to anyone listening to you. Even if Black Magic is on the up and up, he is the rare minority.

New stuff has a ton of seeders, but more obscure stuff takes for ever. The advantage of torrent is in having a swarm of people seeding. You restrict the size of the swarm, and the seeding and download process is much much slower.

I tried a private tracker in the past, but in the end, I now just use one of the major sites. Before doing a DL, I check the comments. People report bad seeds/files all the time, so you don't waste your time with them. In Azureus, I leave a torrent open for seeding until I have a share ratio of over 1.0. If more people did that instead of leach and leave, then things would be faster still.

Demonoid is quite possibly the slowest private tracker there is. It's faster than say TPB, but other sites rape it.

BTW, I don't pirate things all that much. I pay for my music 98% of the time and only download the occasional movie. Any pirating I do is usually software I need for a certain class and most of which I can get for free anyways through the MSDNAA Program if it's Microsoft software. I'm usually just to lazy to go to the library and pick it up. LOL

i dont have any invite codes yet as im only a new member to demonoid but I dont see much point in joining, you can get almost all their torrents from other search sites. in saying that i did go well out of my way to secure an invite and it has proved useful a couple of times but your really not missing out on that much

I use Isohunt. My searches pull torrents from plenty of sites, and I think Demonoid is one of them. But I've heard that Demonoid is best, and have been looking for an invite code. But is it really sooooo great?

Demonoid is absolutely nothing special. Speeds are horrible, dead torrents aren't removed, and get this: 90% of demonoid torrents are freely available via torrent compilation sites like BTJunkie.org

My ratio went insanely poor on Demonoid because I was unknowingly downloading demonoid torrents from other sites.

Example:

Not an avid user of demonoid, he is an avid browser of these forums =), and i just recently joined this site today because I was intrigued by the forums as well. I noticed there was a forum up concerning demonoid, and saw that someone was offering codes, and I said what they hay, I may as well ask. If he gives me the code that's awesome, if not, that is fine as well, no harm in asking, or so I think.
