I don't think they will really do much, except for more ads.

They will prolly will make it so it will have no upload limits, because google doesn't care about size limits.

There are always limits, because of money.

I personally hope we see some re-design...I think youtube has a crappy design....Daniel Burka needs to take on a video uploading site like that.

It would be cool if they conglomerated youtube and google video. They may as well; they're virtually eachothers' only competition.

I heard about this early this morning and only later found out that the official announcement came after that. Part of living in the Silicon Valley!

From what I've been able to gather, Google wasn't planning to do much with it, not many changes, but possibly crack down a bit more on licensed content that people upload.

But Google has unlimited from their money tree on their Sunnyvale/Cupertino campus.

One of the better things that will most likely happen is that your Google account will log you into YouTube, and limits for videos can surpass 10 minutes, as well as allow for better quality.

Ah I'm glad you brought that up. I never wanted to register for YouTube before, so this will be good.

So what's going to go, Google Video or YouTube? YouTube has the fame, but it doesn't have the Google name. I wonder what their plan is about all of that.

Ditto. This is pretty big news.

Only more proof that i live under a rock.

Also, wouldn't removing filesize caps increase the piracy that youtube tried so hopelessly to fight?

Expect video ads to appear in the near future. That's the only way they're going to make money.

Google. Google can't buy Google.

i think google will end up putting ads before every view and banners all over the place and suck up as much advertising aid as they can get. then youtube will become nothing but another yahoo videos side only with better videos. OR google wont be able to handle all the bandwith fees and go under ... and then i lose all my gmail accounts. thank god that probally wont happen but never know. now i could be wrong, and probally will be. so dont be posting shit like HAHAHA U WERE WRONG U JACKASS.

Chances are that Google can not only buy your house, but the block you live on. Assuming it could be sold. And Google could buy more of their own shares, would that count as buying Google??

My take: Who cares? Both companies are still going to be operating independantly of each other. There's no need to get worked up into a big fuss about nothing. Though if i owned Google stock i'd think differently. But i dont so i wont :)

Yea I was just thinking that, except for a few small things, I don't really think there are going to be many changes, there are still 2 companies working.

so you really dont think google is going to choke the life out of youtube by pumping as much ad space as they can into the videos and page?

We can only hope not...I would like to see youtube get cleaned up though. Its like a messy room that just needs some tiding up.
