Well as some of you know I had to take the day off work today cause I had gotten poison ivy from holding my outdoor cat and it had started to spread a little on my arm (it took me 2 days to figure out it was poison ivy and 4 days before it turned into the "rash" looking stuff, it was just bumps for the 1st 3 days.) Anyway, well apparently it's only my face too, cause half of my face now has bumps on it and is itching (my arm never has itched) I found a website that recommended Tecnu soap and band-aid anti-itch gel, which seems to be working and i'm not itching while it's on, but it doesn't seem to be dissipating very quickly, and especially with it covering half my face, i'm kinda nervous about it, and probably can't go back to work until it's gone. Anybody have any remedies.

When I was younger I had it all over my arm it was bad wouldn't go away and had to go to the doctor to have a shot to get rid of it.

bleach. anywhere you can soak (say your arm), then soak for about 5 minutes. use a wash clothe and cut the bleach with water for your face.

Take an antihistamine like benadryl or another allergy remedy. That always works for me with skin irritations. Apply a cortisone cream directly to the poison ivy affected skin.
Also, bleach will destroy the oils and stop it from spreading, but I wouldn't recommend bleach on your face since it is so toxic. Maybe a rubbing alcohol wash instead. But since you are a few days into the poison ivy problem, this probably won't help, but in the future if you know you've touched poison ivy, this will stop an outbreak.
Just go with antihistamines in pill form and a topical cream. I feel for you, poison ivy is no fun. Good luck.

I've been washing it with rubbing alcohol in between applying the anti-itch gel
The bad part, i didn't touch the poison ivy, the cat did then I held her.
Only soap i've been using on the area is the Tecnu which is soap made to remove the oils from the skin.

Just do your best not to scratch it and it should go away soon depending on how allergic you are to it.

I hadn't had a problem with it since I got a shot from the Doc and I have touched it and been around on many times. Though it may be I am allergic to many things and all my allergies amplified many times when I had cats including those to P.Ivy.

Baking Soda to The Rescue
The absolute best cure for poison ivy is a simple one. Don't waste money on over the counter creams and sprays. Go to the store a purchase a large box of baking soda. Run a warm bath and put a considerable amount of the baking soda into the water. Soak the affected area(s). The baking soda will leach the poison out of you skin. There will be a noticeable difference the following day. The affected area's will begin to dry out. Continue baking soda bath daily until it is gone. I thought this might help some.

What i'm doing appears to finally be working, washing morning and night with Tecnu, rubbing alcohol cleaning twice a day and putting anti-itch on it after cleaning and it's finally going away.

glad you are feeling better, but bleach would have cleared it up in a couple of hours ;)
