iPhone vs Harry Potter 7

So, my roommate and I are a bit at odds over which one is bigger.

I was telling her about this digg story:

and her response was that she didn't believe it was a copy of the book at all and that it was SUCH a big deal for HP7 and so much security around it that nothing like that could happen. She also said whatever they leaked was probably not the book at all.

I retorted that people leaked stuff about the iPhone (AT&T worker scanned her iPhone manual and posted it online) and that was equally as big of a deal, but someone dumb enough did it anyways.


TRS people being an audience into probably both things... what do YOU think?


Apple iPhone a bigger deal and more tight with security?

or is the release of the last Harry Potter book a much bigger deal?

(or maybe the phrase it another way, which one is more epic of a release?)

Global release? Check ... 1 for Harry.
Global security for distribution? Check ... 2 for Harry.
Frenzied anticipation from rabid fans? Draw.
Fans sleeping out, waiting for the release? Draw.


But the definative answer should be determined in a duel.

Its a close call, but Harry gets the edge in that one.

So, overall, I'd give it to Harry, but its a close fight, and probably only a win for him because of the international aspect of the release.

I do believe a lot the iPhones were also delivered under very very secure conditions. We had 6 cops outside our door the day it was released.

The only other big thing I can think that holds the iPhone slightly "higher" (not even sure if that is the right word), is the effect it had on the stock market both when it was announced (other cell companies lost money) and how much hype was surrounding it that when the rumor happened about it being delayed, Apple lost of a ton of money.

Some how I don't think a delay in HP7 would "cost" the same, but I'm honestly really not sure and I'm not sure that there is a clear winner.


What else "epic" has come out this summer that would compare with either?
