I think it could be useful if all of your friends in RL used it but for online buddies theres not much use other than jut to show them a cool link or something.

Right now, it's sorta a cross between an off-topic forum and nice looking "myspace" lite. It's basically an organizer for online contacts. If you don't believe in grouping your buddies into categories, it's not that useful.

Yes, it does have that aspect. It's kinds of a light version of all those serviced together.

I was interested when I first heard about it, but not enough to check it out. But since then, from what everyone says, I'm glad I didn't bother checking it out as it seems to not be providing any real use to anyone. What's the deal on that, people who use it ?

I use it as a twitter type service. And with the iPhone's web abilities I could see this really taking off, although would be better if they developed a phone compatable version of the desktop app.

I use it occasionally but not a lot of friends on it yet. I use twitterfeeds to feed my public pownces(?) to twitter (and then on to jaiku and facebook). At this point I just use them to see how they work, not to do any real communicating on. Not yet anyway.

I like it, i meet new people, have people like veronica bellmont and kevin rose sending me links and asking opinions that we can respond to in small numbers. I was thinking about it just yesterday, since i got this im kinda in the loop with the tech industry leaders now. I see things before they get on digg from the guys that not only make digg, but the people that write the articles that get on digg and other sites.

I've been using Pownce since shortly after launch. I like it quite a bit. I'm hoping it can replace Twitter at some point. Twitterific is way better than the Pownce AIR app though.

The thing that gets me about pownce... it'd be great if I could get the majority of my core friends to participate, especially with the privacy granularity which I really dig. I'm not so much a broadcast person though, so I don't send much out to "general public." As it stands I don't think the ones that have signed up even get it enough to check it; except the one.

It's got potential though, so we'll see. And I agree on the AIR app; doesn't take as much in resources as one would think being flash and all, but it isn't my favourite.
