Just as a hypothetical. If one was to to aim for a target of working for rev3, what would be the type of skills valuable to this emerging IPTV network.

Well that would depend on what you want to do? Producer? Editor? Camera? Show Host? IT? Marketing? Beer/Wine taster?

Honestly im at a point myself where im getting ready to shift my area of expertise. I been working for Brighthouse and fixing PC's and networking and stuff for a while, but its really limiting and i just wanna elevate and get into something fun. I feel like i got all these ideas and i cant act on any of them cause everyone is so close minded and im not in a place where i have resources to learn from and put these ideas into action cause i dont know it ALL. I realize the idea of working for rev3 is a loooong shot but in time it could happen right? I plan on moving to Cali, im open to a new direction in the IT field and i eat the stuff up that goes on around here like a junkie.

So as i make my shift, if i can line it up in a way that puts that chance, how ever slim it might be, into the realm of the possible ... who knows. Hell i might even have useful skills now that i can expand on to make useful. Working for something like rev3 or apple or google would just be a dream come true to me, not just surviving, but creating. And like my grand pappy used to say, if you have a dream and you hold on to it, you can make it true, no matter what it is. I have no wife, no kids, low expensises, i can move and do anything i want and work as hard as i want without having to worry about anyone and i have nothing to lose. Anything is possible for a man in my position.

Ha, i just realized your a rev3 staffer.

Well im sure you have your pick of the litter for guys like me, but my current job is networking and PC work right now as i mentioned. Think geek squad kinda stuff. Minor networking, pc repair, viruses, spyware, etc. Been moving towards mac stuff so ive stalled on my MSCA. I keep coming up with ideas like packaging social software ( face book and AIM or pounce or whatever fits the need ) and selling it to a family or business and setting them up. Really its free software, i wold get paid for my knowledge. Podcast ideas, like in the show forum. Its just all day and i feel like if i could share them with capable people i could be of use.

However realizing that being hired for think tank possibilities is pretty shaky, i wonder what more practical things i can aim for and build my knowledge on so in time i can be of use, while i share these ideas also. One thing i have right now is a thrist for learning and expanding my knowledge and a drive to back it up. So really all you need to do is point me in a direction and ill gobble it up. And yea, id sweep up if it got me in the door and paid the rent ;)

Well judging from the silence in this thread now i guess i have my immediate answer, which i expected, i get hyper and dont express myself well ( hi, im a geek ). But remember this name and face cause im coming back after a long hiatus cause i ran into nothing but bad people and kinda lost hope in the human race. But im starting to find good people, worth giving to again and im a giver in a big way. I will create something and in time i can only hope its something that can make some dreams come true, like working for a great company like rev3.

I'm actually looking into the same thing. I want to get something started that gets good quality media out to the masses. So your definitely not alone. I checked the Digg front page about employment opportunities and most of what they're looking for, I'm going to be studying in college.

I hear ya brother, i would sweep floors and learn my way up if it paid rent. Dead serious. Shit i would even do it free (intern style ) if i found another job that paid the rent. Im one of those guys that takes work home with him and learns.
