So because of factors beyond my control, I'm unable to attend PAX or the San Diego Comic Con. I will however be in South Carolina in late August and that means I'm a hop, skip, and a jump away for Atlanta.

I'm not too familiar with D*C, but it's got Erik Estrada so you know it must be awesome. I think a couple people have been so if anybody has some experiences with it or opinions on the con, please lemme know. There's still time to make it happen and I'd like to at least hit up one major con this year.

DragonCon is AWESOME! There is plenty to see and do no matter what your passion. And you can't stumble down a hallway without hitting a party. The panels are a lot of fun (especially Mythbusters and Firefly/Serenity).

Sadly, I can't make it there this year

Awesome. This seems like a worthy celebration of my birthday then.

Dragon*Con is quite amazing actually. We just started the Official Podcast for the convention actually. I am one of the Directors at the convention, so I have the 'inside' scoop if you have questions.

Check out the official podcast at:

The convetion is growing so much we added another hotel this year, so it is now across the four biggest convention hotels in downtown Atlanta. If you want to come get your room, membership, and such NOW! :)

I'm glad somebody brought up D*C. It seems to get overlooked in the convention conversation.

I went last year and was blown away by it. It was total sensory overload. I'm making my reservations later on today. Looks like my friends and I will be in the Sheraton.

The Hilton is already sold out for those interested.

Cool,

Ya, I don't know either, it is actually one of the largest geek fest conventions in the world, and it IS the largest in the world of its type. The 'official' number from last year was around 60,000 people. But, they low ball thier numbers to keep the hotels happy, and to not anger the emergency service people, etc... When you go and see all seeting masses you realize it HAS to be more...

The hotel you are in will be fine, it is right next to the Hilton, which is where we are doing all the Podcasting content this year. Swoopy, my co-host is the Director for the podcasting / new media stuff. I am the Director for the Skeptic track. Our track areas are right next to each other this year on the 2nd floor of the Hilton.

We'd LOVE to have them do a live Totally Rad Show Live on the Podcasting Event Track. :)

So is anything going to be based in the Sheraton? What I mean is that most of the comic book artists and vendors where in the Hilton and most of the panels were in the Hyatte, so I was wondering if anything in particular was going on in the new hotel?

The new hotel, this year, will be mainly for LARGE Parties and hosted events. Like some of the big balls and such. Next year, we are going to take over all the extra convention rooms as well. We MIGHT start to use some of the extra convention space if it is needed, but so far, we all got our track room locations and event room assignments so it seems it will be just for Parties, Award Shows, and some large events. Such as live shows and such.

On our Podcasting and New Media track we always do a big awards show, The Parsec Awards for the past 3 years, and that will probably be there this year.
