I was just flipping through the channels and i saw something that disturbed me on ScFi. ECW.....

Man i hope this isnt what i think it is. Every dieing network turns to wrestling as it tries to claw its way out of the inevitable death its headed for and for a SciFi network to turn to wrestling which is a totally different demographic, this worries me. First Stargate, the decline of BSG which i think is canceled after next season, not picking up firefly, havent seen a good movie out of them in ages which was one of their strong points and now this. I had worries that SciFi had lost its way, but now its feeling pretty confirmed.

EEEEEK! You are so right, when these networks start showing programs like of wrestling or Cops...it's bad bad mojo. Come on, Sci Fi is one of the last channels I've been holding onto so tightly - I hope it doesn't go the way of, dare I say it, TechTV/G4.

And yes, the next season of BSG is the last season. Ron Moore confirmed.

ECW has been on Sci-Fi since last year...maybe longer...

Who wants to be a superhero = so good. If scifi goes down it means that goes down...and I can't have that.

You can't count BSG's cancellation as warning sign. The show has a very limmited range and couldn't last much longer anyway. The constant re-hashing of old ideas should scare you more. Maybe their movies staring Steven Baldwin would be better if they never wasted time on giant boondoggles like BSG. Scifi will be fine as long as they can come up with more Stargate series . Here is a idea for a show it's Stargate but in a whole New galaxy and the cultures are based on the myth of writers with new ideas for tv shows.

SciFi also has the new re-telling of Flash Gordon starting in the next couple of weeks. That should, hopefully, capture the Smallville audience and bring some numbers back to the channel.

TechTV had nothing to do with the downfall of G4TechTV. That was all on G4. Just for future reference. ;)

g4 had nothing to do with techtvs downfall. and to be honest scifi will come back. they have ecw to bring in a new demographic to the channel and it probably doesnt help that the mcmans r a bunch of money hungry assheads. they own all the different brands of wrestling. its pointless. but as long as they keep rolling out with amazing shows such as stargate sg1 stargate atlantis battlestar galactica and many others. RIP : Firefly.

Worst thing about ECW is it never runs to time, so if you are taping something that comes on after, you need to allow buffer time or you miss the ending.

Best thing on SciFi at the moment?

EUReKA. Scifi dramadey (comedy/drama). Great summer season show. Well produced, intelligent. Love it.

I also enjoy Painkiller Jane on Friday nights.

Yeah, ECW has been on SciFi for a long time now.

TNA:Wrestling is the only thing worth watching, and I dont even watch that anymore.

I miss WCW. ;)

I ****ing hate that show. It's just another scripted reality show butwith people acting like dorks in improvised halloween costumes.

And I have never liked the Sci-Fi channel. Ok, this thread is clearly not for me. Sorry if I derailed it.

Ok my faith has been restored for the moment. If that works out well like BSG we are talking series. Could be fun.

@magnum

Well i never saw the ECW thing before, so it freaked me out cause i have seen i think 3 channels go down and it was right when the wrestling went on that it happened. I would be so sad if we lost SciFi. Thats about the only thing thats good anymore, save a little comedy central and a sprinkle of shows like lost and heroes.

If it was UFC i wouldnt complain at all. But wrestling, i cant get into it anymore. I grew up on WWF and i guess now that i know its faked, even know its still dangerous and all that, its lost its appeal to me.

Yah. I think there's only a few type of Wrestling fans:

* Those that don't know
* Those that didn't know, but now do and watch to see if certain wrestlers are getting pushed (smart marks)
* Those that just want to see guys hurt each other

I just lost interest, plus, I dont have cable TV, so I couldnt watch TNA if I wanted to unless I paid through iTunes or the 360 Marketplace.

That Flash Gordon thing sounds interesting… but my favourite period for the SciFi channel was like a decade ago when they didn't make their own content but the reruns/movies/anime they showed was much more to my interest. Though, I'd probably watch BSG if I could bring myself to sit in front of the TV.

You watch everything online then ? Or you ipod it.

Online I guess. I watch maybe three hours of video a week and listen to a bunch of podcasts while I work. I occasionally catch bits of F1 and the Tour d'France when I think about it (and to my eternal shame, Smallville), but I have trouble remembering to actually be in front of the TV at the appropriate time since I so rarely interface with it.

You misunderstood the comment, trust me I go wayyyyy back with TechTV. Simply put, I don't want to see my favorite programming disappear, that's all.
