When I really wasn't a fan of Apple, I felt that Digg was full of Apple fanboys. After a couple years I realized that Apple isn't as bad as I thought, and I started to like them more. But now it seems all I see is "Damn Apple fanboys!" Maybe it's the same and I'm looking at a different perspective of it?

its a mix bag. A lot of Microsoft stories seem to get fanboy comments, where as the comments in the apple stories dont seem to extreme. Either trolls or not blind fanboys. Personally, I love OS X and thats about it. I think the iPod is a rip off since they offer a new one every year sometimes with features that could of come via a firmware upgrade. This is something I hope the Zune doesnt. I am completely underwhelmed with the iPhone since it lacks a lot of basic features. But, OS X is a Unix implication that is simple to use and looks good while doing it. I give em major props for that.

I think the problem is im finding windows users like to attack mac users. So you hear that kinda rhetoric a lot about apple fanbois.
I noticed this at work the other day. I am 1 of 2 mac guys in the shop and we were going through learning how to setup these new modems. Well the terminal wouldnt let you telnet in and paste a cfg file the same and immediately it was " oh mac sucks, thats what you get ". Its just typical, i feel like i always have to defend my mac. But today i think i came up with a solid defense.
First off if anyone attacks, they lose. I like windows, i enjoy the mac OS better, but i have the mentality in computing that linux and OSX and windows all have there niche. So by attacking me and saying im a fanboi is wrong, i have windows in parallels, which brings me to my second inarguable fact. I can dual boot. I can run final cut pro, reboot and have a active directory server all on the same PC. Or i dont have to reboot and can have a machine running both OS's side by side to open any app i want. On the PC all you can run is windows and windows programs.
So by embracing all OS's and using their strengths on my one PC and having respect for them all, you cant win against my use of a mac. I can open windows and do anything they can, then go back to OS X like im opening a folder and do a million things they cant :)
So the next PC user that wants some static, is gonna get smacked, by himself, which is just the sweetest way to win. Witness to self ownij :)
There is more, but my hands hurt. Been on the net more then i have been in a long time lately, gotta get used to it i guess.

Zune lost me when it didnt have a click wheel and MS paid universal for every zune they sold under the assumption that every user will be a pirate. I cant support that kinda thinking, you dont give into the labels at this stage in the game. We have to TAKE power not give it to them =\
Other then that its good though. Solid little device.

idk, I feel people made too big of a deal out of that. I mean, cmon, almost every zune user is a pirate. And, if a dollar from each sell goes to Universal and they back off a bit from pirates (not that they did which sucked) im cool with MS kind of having my back.

Explain. I think Microsoft and Linux fanboys act as if they are in the minority.

Will it still be full of Apple Fanboys now that they've partnered with Microsoft??

Digg panders to Apple and Linux fans. Just look how long it tok for there to be a Microsoft section on the site. Apple and Linux were there from day 1.
Now, look at the frequency of stories posted to the Apple, Linux, and MS sections. New Apple and Linux stories are posted continually (and if you look at them, they are often rehashes via blogs of the same links - especially in the Linux area).
Does this mean that Microsoft does nothing newsworthy? Possibly. Or it could mean that rabid fanbois are scouring the net for anything to do with their favourite brand or news of an impending possible patch to the latest update of Ubuntu. Sure these are both newsworthy subjects - for fanbois ... who then Digg the articles tothe front page because of brand loyalty or a misguided perception that everything FLOSS is good. And if its good for FLOSS and Apple, then it must be sticking it to the man.
Take the DRM in Vista stories. Look at how many negative articles there were on DRM in Vista. Now, realise that MS by implementing the DRM safeguards are able to properly playback the media involved. Not a mention was made that FLOSS and Apple will also need to comply to allow that to happen on their platforms. Indeed, unless they do, the DRM restrictions (many of which are hardware based, and not software) will affect them just as much as Windows users - because its all built upon the same hardware. But, not a peep was made of those issues.
You'll never get a balance when geeks declare a technology jihad.

I don't know if I would call it pandering. I think in a historical sense that the Linux and apple guys tend to be more on the bleeding edge of technology, which explains why there was more focus on them .
Would you agree or no?

I think people tend to to over react when referring to Apple fanboys. Many act as if owning an Apple product (especially a Mac) makes them a fanboy. Another complaint is that "fanboys" always talk about how great their Apple products are yet, I found that most the time they are challenged on their purchase. Apple is a more newsworthy company then Microsoft, the last interesting thing I saw Microsoft do was the multi touch table.
BTW, Slashdot also caters to these Apple and Linux "fans". Apple is typically more newsworthy then Microsoft, and Linux kind of depends on a loyal fanbase to survive.

I was just reading a column Dvorak wrote on his experience using a Mac and the following pretty much sums up why I love my Mac:
As someone who does recommend gear to people, I have to think to myself, "Should I recommend something that will come back to haunt me, or recommend a Mac with its higher price but lower hassle factor?" The answer is simple. I hate the idea of having to do customer service for people who cannot keep their systems clean, and that's most people.
Well, I CAN keep my system clean...I just don't feel like I should have to. Yes, one reason the security on OSX is so good is because it isn't a huge target. Regardless, it really is a more secure platform. If anything, Mac users are more of a target then ever and I've still yet to see any real problems (don't mention the Apple bugs site, those are small BUGS....not exploits).
That and it is sort of true when they say it "Just works".

That all depends on what you want to do...
And I wish people would stop saying "Mac" when they mean "OS X" You can have a Mac with Windows.

You could say, I have a Mac with OSX... but I kind of see your point, and it makes sense if talking to someone that doesn't understand. For example, I worked on an older lady's computer. She called it a "Dell" even though her machine was a custom built one that one of her grandsons did. Also, you being lazy is no excuse for being inaccurate.
My main point is that major hardware and software companies will announce stuff for PC or Mac when they really mean Windows or OS X. This is most evident in the computer gaming arena.

"Hi, I am a Mac"
"... and I am a PC"
Sound familiar (http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/)?
Hi ... I am an informed user. Did you know that you are both 'PC's and equally capable of running applications from leading vendors in the market? Except perhaps you Mac ... doesn't look like you play games much. Did you know that you are the same, but can wear different outfits as well? Look at my wardrobe - here is my Black Hat linux distro, here is my Vista Business suit, here is my Ubuntu education outfit. As a personal computer, you have freedom to choose and wear whatever clothes you want.
I think it is the freedom of choice that is important. MacOS users choose Apple branded gear, and then immediately get defensive over their choice. Linux users choose their a la carte mix of kernel and UI, sit back smug, and deride everyone else for not liking their flavour of OS (because its FREE like beer, and everyone likes beer right?). Windows users like stirring up trouble - especially when faced with self righteous tree hugging MacOS users, or Linux users that are constantly looking for half assed replacements for apps they miss from Windows. But, ultimately a Windows user can sit back, knowing that secretly all the Mac and Linux fanbois dual boot ... because no OS is perfect, but Windows gets the job done better.

Token's version of the Mac ads:
"Hello, I'm a personal computer. My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate edition".
"Hello, I'm a personal computer. My operating system is Mac OS X Tiger."
No wonder you're a "PC" user, look how complicated you make things!

;)Not at all. Its obvious they are both personal computers.
"Hi, I am a Mac user."
"... and I couldn't care less. I use Windows something or other that came installed on my Dell."
Mac users overly complicate things by insisting they are "different". Yes. Mac users are "different". They are "special".

Another quote from the Dvorak article:
Other than that, I cannot see much of a difference between the Mac and PC. It's a computer. It runs the same old applications (more or less), and it gets the job done, albeit somewhat more elegantly.

I was on Digg more on my PC than I currently am on my Mac, which is never.
