Ok, this might be totally off topic, but as far as I've understood it, quite a few of you are SF residents (And Revision3 is SF based, no?), but here goes:

I'm playing at the Regency Center saturday the 18th of august. However, as I want to see some of SF as I'm being told it's such a beautiful city, I thought I'd come in on friday and stay to monday. While the promoter books the hotel for me the night of the gig, I need to find somewhere to live the other nights. So, I need to find an affordable, nice enough, hotel in SF somewhere. Do you have any suggestions? I know how to google, but I'd prefer to get recommendations from real people.

Also, I'm gonna check out Alcatraz, what more should I check out?

Areas of interest in no particular order:

Golden Gate Park
Golden Gate Bridge
The Haight
Fishermen's Wharf
The Castro
Chinatown

Also, I'm gonna check out Alcatraz, what more should I check out?Only thing I would recommend is that you don't just go out to Alcatraz and do the audio walking tour ... also do one of the guided tours led by the park rangers. You'll get taken to places the regular public dont get to see - so its worth the extra.

Regarding where to stay, you've got to keep in mind that many of the hotels in SF are old, very old, and so are rattling Victorian buildings. So don't expect four-star-quality for the prices.

Check out Medicine Hat on your way back, I'm sure you'll get a warm reception.

Puma Swede? Never heard that before. Does it have something to do with tall, thin gorgeous blondes?
